BMW 340i - Halogen --> LED Headlights?
So I've been snooping around this forum since a month or 2. I've recently bought the BMW 340i w/M Sport Package (my previous car was a MK6 GTI, and was cross shopping the S3, Merc C300 and Jag XE S)..
As an overall package - I felt BMW was the best bet, and hence I made the jump. Wont go into specifics of why I chose the bimmer over Mercs and the new Jag XE - I guess personally I felt the most connect with the car. its but I feel a car is an extension of a one's soul. and one should buy a car where he/she feels that 'connect' Anyway coming to the point - the part that I missed out while I was busy drooling over the car was - my 340i came with halogens instead of stock LED Headlights. I really want to get LED headlights on my car (with nicely shaped DRLs). My questions are 1. Is there a way I can 'upgrade' to BMW stock LEDs (need not be adaptive) from stock halogen? Is coding needed for it? and whats the damage like? 2. If above is not possible - can I get aftermarket parts which can do the job well? I'm in Dubai - so i'll need to order via international shipping. I'm aware of 1. OneEighty - USA 2. MARS Performance - AUS but unsure whether they have fitments for a LCI 340i w/halogens Dear mod - i tried finding the relevent thread of an 3 Series LCI owner wanting to change his headlights but couldnt. so please dont ask me to thank you all for the help. |

Folks, in the U.S. we get all kinds of things as standard equipment that they don't in other markets.

Haha. I should have clarified this before posting - So here in Dubai, the dealer get the inventory, based on his built, and we have to buy from his inventory - there is an option to have a custom order but that would account for ~ 5% of all cars sold. plus the dealer doesnt give the additional freebies that come with a car which is in stock (freebies includes : free insurance / extended warranty & service plans etc) But i'm sure I dont have 1. the angel LED DRLs 2. LED Headlights Last edited by bhushir; 01-23-2016 at 03:47 AM.. |

BMW LED upgrade? I'd say the housing alone would likely run US $1000-1400 per housing plus coding install etc so at least $3500. Pricey.

Housing x 2 Ballast x 2 Ignitor x 2 (although it may be part of the ballast) Leveling Sensors x 2 Xeons might actually be more expensive than the LEDs. The thing is, if the Xeons burn out, you replace a bulb. The LEDs won't burn out but they may fail due to solder or other wiring faults. It's a $1000 swap out. This is the problem with LEDs on all models of car. The entire assembly needs to be replaced if even one LED goes bad. |

Yep I saw the M4-Like LED's in the forum already... But the Xenons are great when wanting to give a "flash to pass" signal. |

So I did not find an answer here - is it plug&play?
I have preLCI adaptive LED headlights. I want to replace them to halogen headlights while I do some tuning on the LED headlights. Is it possible to do it? Is it plug&play (is the wiring the same)? Does it need some coding or it should work? Thank you! |
