Stock exhaust alignment with diffuser?

So I got my 228i back from the body shop a few days ago with its new rear bumper after I got rear-ended back in December. I looked over the bumper when I picked it up, but I didn't notice until today that the exhaust tips are not central in the cut-out in the diffuser.

Of course, I can't claim to have looked super-closely when the car was new (I'd only had it three weeks before the accident!) so maybe it was always like that, but it doesn't seem likely.

Here's the only pic I have of my car (downloaded from the dealer website) when it was new. It's too small and dark to really see the exhaust closely, though.

Here's one I took right after the accident. It certainly looks misaligned there, which makes me wonder if the exhaust also got knocked in the impact?

Here are two I took today, with the new bumper, equally if not more misaligned.

Fellow 228i owners, what does yours look like? :\

I have a 235 so can't really compare, but that definitely doesn't look right to me.

Agreed. it isn't installed correctly. Here's a link to the installation instructions for a Dinan muffler. They show how to tighten the attachment bolts for correct centering of the tips.Take it back to the body shop and tell them how to do it.

It's likely the exhaust hangar is bent or needs adjustment. I agree that something is wrong, but it's surely not serious. Should be a quick fix at the dealer or wherever you are getting the car repaired.

Sorry for the bad luck. Beautiful car!

Its off for sure. Nows the time to do some work to the exhaust and get larger tips to fill up the entire opening
