Usually the insurance company will offer you the car back with a reduced payout

Its just an agreed value including everything. So no, they are not insured. They wouldn't know what wheels are on the car.

Insurer is AAMI.

Now atm I have some 19' GTC rims with Goodyear Asymmetrics 2s, I was thinking of buying the cheapest possible rims/tyres I can and fitting them prior to getting an assessment of the vehicle? Therefore I can either keep the GTC's/tyres for my next car or sell them on.

My questions are basically, do you get the car back after the assessment or do they assess, say that its a write-off and send you a cheque and you never see the car again. Unfortunately car is insured for much less than its worth (my fault) so trying to save every $ I can!!!

Cheers
Sorry to hear this bro..

Also has anyone used Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) for hail damage? Not sure but sounds like it could be too good to be true

I used paintless dent removal on my Porsche when our neighbour reversed straight into the passenger door. Would not have thought it possible to fix it without painting. Absolutely perfect, not possible to tell it had ever been dented. The guys I used had a great reputation and the workshop was full of euro's and exotics.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing haha!

Its the number of dents that concerns me. There are so many, I really hope they don't write-off!

Like someone said before, PDR (paintless dent repair) should fix that right up. Won't need a respray, they just massage the dents out with tools without requiring bog and paint.

It will depend on where the dints are located. I used to own a wrecking yard and the PRD guys used to use my damaged panels to practice on! Flat surfaces are easy, but if its on a metal fold/crease etc it maybe alot more difficult, if at all.
If it were me, id work out an agreed payout from the insurer, then go and get it fixed up for 1/4 of the price & pocket the extra $$$

Wouldn't this be classified as a repairable write-off then? That would make re-sale pretty much non-existent

And that my friends is sometimes how the world goes round lol
