Houston **** M3/4 owners...do you daily your car?

As I patiently (right) wait for my lease to be up, or at least close enough to bail on, I continue to drive an F8x every now and then to remind myself what I am missing out on. Currently driving a GS 350 FSport. Fine car, but no M.

Drove an M3 with 18's, active suspension and 6MT today. Car is in Katy and I took it on a loop of I-10 of about 5 miles. Certainly the car is louder and stiffer than my car, and of course faster and more capable. Much more solidly planted.

I've been driving everything under the sun and just not finding that any one car is "the one". Unfortunately I have 13 more months to torture myself but that also give me plenty of time to figure out what is floating my boat. I love the M3, but last time I lived with a car of this general nature, I was 25, not in my 40's. Drove the M5 but that feels too big. Driven many of those, with both transmissions. Driven a new C63S and that car is a beast. But I'm not in love with the styling, or the quasi-DCT, or the older version of COMAND. I even drove a new 740i recently.

So, those of you who daily drive your car, what do you think? My daily commute is typically less than 15 minutes. But once a week, or more, I head for appointments inside the beltway. I'm from the NE and wish I had more enjoyable roads here. Everything is straight and 90 degree turns.

Please, looking for a civil discussion that's why I didn't post in the general forum so I don't hear "but a Camry!" Nonsense. Plus, given I do 90 % of my driving around the Woodlands or down to downtown, you guys know that we don't have daily access to canyons, mountains, etc.. So I look for your sincere opinions and thoughts.

Thanks guys.

Mines a DD - do about 18-20 miles each way to work on a mix of side streets and highway - still love getting in the thing after 12-13K miles and the instant acceleration and handling never seem to get old. Honestly and as daft as it may or may not seem this is also one of the reasons for my going with the convertible to add another dimension to as you say otherwise boring commutes or relatively frequent short trips w/o opportunities to open it up etc. We eat out a lot and just cruising around albeit somewhat fast () is a blast everytime with the top down (it is my first Vert!).

I DD mine inside the loop (non-adaptive suspension) and occasionally go to the track. It's the Swiss Army knife of cars. Roomy interior, luxurious as I'd ever want and a supercar on the street!

I DD my car too and find it difficult to fully utilize the M3's potential on the street. Been thinking about leasing a 6MT Miata or buy a used fun car for commuting and keeping the M3 as a weekend/track car.

I daily my F82. It's not difficult, although I wouldn't say it's a very easy car to DD. The majority of that is the F82 vs F80. Long doors and access to the rear is compromised. All issues the F80 does not have.

Also there is a meet at Cedar Creek this Saturday. I will likely attend. Last time we were there was the infamous Tesla crash. Join us. Also, what the heck happened to KennyPowers ? Hasnt been around in a while.

Edit: All my complaints about car are will be taken care of once I finish modding a Toyota 4Runner I picked up in December. Lift, tires, & new rotors go on today. Ill post a picture when I get it back.

I DD my F80 and I love it. No issues whatsoever. Then again my commute is about 1.5 miles...

Agreed about the lack of interesting roads, but nothing compares to the feeling/enjoyment of walking out and seeing your M3/M4 and the subsequent drive. I look forward to getting into my m3 every time. We are in our cars a lot here in Houston so you might as well enjoy the time. The feeder roads (or any newer hashed concrete) are just about the only surface that you'll get traction on in the lower gears.

Thanks man, I'll have to take a rain check (looks like literally) on tomorrow. I'm on kid duty all morning. When it gets a little warmer, I told the wife we're all going down there for breakfast on the morning of one of the meets.

Edit....hope it's warm next week, that's when the meeting is!

I dailyish my M. I hate washing it especially with the non consistent weather. Personally I would just drive the GS on nasty weather days or bs errands day.

Sorry man, just saw this today. Why I didn't get a notification for this post confuses me. I missed a bunch of messages.

Hope you made it out if you were planning to.

I've put about 2000 miles on the car since 2015 Sep delivery. I love the M3, but with endless pot holes everywhere on these shitty houston roads, I feel like I'm constantly dodging holes or uneven surfaces when driving really diminish the driving experience.

what's your recommended 19" spec that does not require any compromise (rubbing etc)?
