M Emblems
I have a new 2015 335i with the M Sport package. My question is this: In some of the BMW official promotional materials and brochures it shows small M emblems on the front quarter panels just behind the front wheel wells for the M Sport model...would it be uncool to add the M emblems to my M Sport since it's not a true M series? Just curious what other's thoughts are.

Dude, it is your car and you can badge it all the way you want. If you're prepared for some backlash of the "pure" fraction and stay far over the contra arguments, go ahead.

%100 Nope because they are for m spor package just like urs!
M3 or M4 badges are different. Just go ahead, they look very nice. And buy them on eBay not from the dealer |

i think it would be uncool, because when a true bmw enthusiast looks at your car, they're gonna be like, "oh thats a fake", and I dont think you would like someone to call your car a 'fake' when you paid like 40-60k for it.

It's your car... if you like how it looks... stick them on there. I put an M3 front bumper on my car, not because I want to trick people into thinking I have an M3, but because I think it looks sweet!

shouldn't a "true BMW enthusiast" know that these M fender badges come out of the factory for Euro spec cars. FYI Australian delivered M-Sports have these on

really so you know better than BMW do you. FYI they come out of the factory like this...maybe not in the US
So how does this compare to having the M badge on the standard M sport steering wheel. What bout the m badge on the door sills or the rims which is right out of the BMW factory BTW The M branding is no longer associated with just the high performance models. Hence why its the "M-Sport package/line". Last edited by x328x; 02-22-2016 at 12:23 AM.. |

But you start adding M3/M4 model badges (like a certain member on this thread who made a new M model *cough*) to your car when it's not one...then you're going to have problems. |

I think debadging is the cleanest and best look to go for, regardless of model and trim line, but that's just me. It's your car, buddy - do what you want and enjoy the hell out of it!

I love my //M Badges!! I glad that mine came with them, it gives the MSport a Finished look!! Why not have the badges?
They are already on everything else, on the wheels, on the Msport Brakes, on the Steering Wheel, on the doorsills. So you anti mbadge people going to rip them off your wheels and steering as well? Sorta ridiculous. It's not like you are trying to pass off your car as an M4! It IS an Msport. //M is just BMW's "performance" logo, similar to "SLine" for Audi. I am proud of my BMW MSport! If you want my Badges, come and get 'em, but you'll have to pry 'em from my hands!! LOL.

Thanks for the all the comments. I haven't decided yet but I guess I don't see anything wrong with just the small M emblem on the fenders since the rims, steering wheel, door sills, etc. already have the M emblem on them. It also appears that the M sport models sold throughout the rest of the world have them applied at the factory as a standard and the M Performance lines have different badges. Anyway, appreciate the feedback.

The group might think you are a fake are those who think BMW is diminishing the M brand by offering m-sport packages with m badging on non-M cars. Somehow they think it is the buyers' fault for buying such a car. I've got an m-sport and I could make it "European Correct" by adding the m badging to the front quarter panels as you are considering doing. I say go for it if you want. I chose not to do that but if I did and somebody had an issue with it, then that would be their problem. I personally don't thinks is a good idea to remove 320i, 328i, 335i, or 340i and add M3 badging in the trunk lid in it place, nor to put an aftermarket M after the model badging. I think those people are trying to pretend the car is something its not. But its their car. They should do what they want. Enjoy your car! |

Thanks for the comments. Here is what turned me off to these M sport badges ...
I was in Munich and I saw that same M badge "correctly placed" on the side front fender area as on these, from the factory on a 1 series 20d.... That's right, a diesel folks. So I took pics because I couldn't believe it was factory, but it was. My issue is with the dilution of "M" and that it stands more for "M"arketing

Even with all BMW has done in terms of adding models with all the variants and exploiting (again, a positive term in this context) the M brand, they still are falling behind both Audi and MB in unit sales according to the report I just read on this forum. Do you really think BMW is going to worry about brand dilution fears of its true M owners when they are in a continual fight for their lives to stay in the game against very savvy competition? Your M car is special. You are special for owning one. I could buy one if I wanted an extra 150 horsepower I don't need or want. I do like a sportier look. So for me, the m-sport package on a 328 is perfect, just like the m-tech package on my E39 was great. I'm glad BMW offers these great looking choices for those who don't want beast-level HP. |

I don't think the use of m dilutes the m brand. When u see that single digit number next to that m logo u know it means business and u know its special |
