Clean Stage 2 Tune
Got my car back from BPC with my custom stage 2 tune, and the best word to describe it is AWESOME. I wanted as much power as I could safely get while keeping my DPF and SCR intact. I don't want a smokey, smelly car.
I also wanted the EGR eliminated, but didn't want to give up the quick warmups provided by EGR flow through the EGR cooler. So Bob devised a tune that allows EGR to operate as designed until coolant temperature gets to 150 degrees, then defeats it using the tune. EGR can only intervene if exhaust gas temperature gets dangerously high. I also installed an oil catch can and water/meth injection to avoid/remove carbon build-up. Bob's tune has given me far better throttle response and wonderful power. As a welcome bonus, fuel economy has improved about 15%! The graph and photo below tell the whole story. Torque is strong at 2200 rpm and keeps climbing all the way to about 3500. This increasing, rather than flat, torque curve has my acceleration intensifying as I speed up. Love it! I live in Minnesota, where it's not uncommon to reach -30 below temps, and have at least 7 consecutive days and up to 20 or more when the temp never gets above freezing. I installed the block off plates 2 years ago and have never had a problem with car warming up. Although, I do park the car in my garage that rarely gets below 30 degrees. Personally I will never run a diesel car with an active egr, maby with this mod and meth injection it MIGHT stay clean? But I can think of many better ways of spending 1-3000$ for future walnut blasts like... Hybrid turbos, coilovers, locking rear diff, wheels, exhaust.... Man, I need to find some cheaper hobbies lol!

This looks exactly like something I'd want for my own car. I've been cruising for a tune that stops the egr, but keeps my dpf and scr operating.
Looks good. Could you explain what the different dyno runs are? I looked in your pdf and didn't see anything. I'm assuming red is stock, but I'm not sure what the other runs were. |

Is that a true mpg? If so what distance, just 80 miles? What are you getting per full tank fill up more importantly. I've had the computer average some incredibly high efficiency on a short highway stint, but that says nothing for overall efficiency over distance.

I am contemplating on Meth, since it helps to keep things clean. I am liking that 348hp whp #. I also need to make sure all Monitors will be Ready. For NYS, only 1 not-ready monitor is allowed. I noticed it is possible to make them N/A (not available). That might be OK, since the Inspection station would just simply assume that parameter is not required to be monitored for emissions. |

The first 200 miles was a highway run from Raleigh to Greenville, SC. Unbelievably, I got 46.1 mpg on that trip. It was with cruise set on 75 as much as possible, and included a really fun humility lesson for a Mustang and Charlotte gridlock. The next run was the one I posted here--80 miles of interstate with cruise at 75 as much as possible. I drove it hard Saturday for about 20 miles for fun and it went through a regen, so I didn't even look at the MPGs. I'll start posting about the economy next week. |

Wow! Boost in power, emissions compliant (software checks at least), and EGR turned off? Sounds like the best of all worlds! I am really considering this. Bob@BPC can you do remote flashing if I send in my ECU?

I timed that YouTube video 335d they have advertised on the diesel page on their website. Looked to be 3.68 seconds to 60 mph. RIDICULOUS !!!
