3K deposit for securing a M3?

So, I am working with this dealer to get a 2016 M3 European Delivery.

He has allocation and we have agreed on the price. But the dealership wants a 3K deposit to secure the allocation for me. Does this sound normal ?

I've previously done 1k deposits, but this is my first M.

Does this happen to be BMW of Rockville? They asked the same of me and I went else where...where I ended up basically said "put down whatever deposit you want"

When I was looking to order a individual exterior and interior they wanted a $3k deposit, but I would think that $1K is more than enough for a non-individual order. That is how much I put down. Enough to make sure you can claim ownership of the allocation

First, Rockville only asked $1k deposit from me.

Second, they were the cheapest deal around.

It all depends on who you work with but I'll never go back there and not just because of the 'required' high deposit either.

I will say they were the best deal around but I opted for a slightly higher deal at a different dealer because of the overall bad experience. Customer service factors in a lot for me.

That's too bad. I had a perfect experience with them. 10/10. Every single person I interacted with treated me well.

I also appreciate good customer service. I regularly walk out of my way to a further Starbucks because the one in my building has bad customer service.

Sorry to hear that. I bought mine from Rockville and had a great experience. Also got a really good deal. I guess who you deal with makes a difference. Just got my 1200-mile service done there today. In and out in just over an hour. Back on the road

I went through Rockville and only had to put down a 1k deposit. Never asked for anything more. Great service there too! Shitted in Sterling.

Customer Service was good as I ordered from them in Dec until recently I went in with PCD coming up to sign and told them I was thinking of financing due to March rates and was told since no option credit that price would raise by 750 unless I lease which they apparently said I had finalized on their end in Dec...

Just gonna finalize and get this over with..

So far I've had a hell of a time getting anybody with allocation to give me a decent deal. A few even asked for MSRP :-o. So far no one with allocation has come close to the EU Invoice + 1500 mark and I am even offering the doc fee on top of that.

The deal I was working out with them was for a Euro Delivery. They told me they had two allocations to meet my June 2015 delivery date if I act now. (this was back in Feb 2015). Maybe they've changed their policy since then.

The only place in NOVA that would not do a ED was BMW of Fairfax. They insisted you can't do one on a pull ahead program.

I talked to James Duerbeck, he didn't want to budge of MSRP. I'm in the area .. So I'll drop by and tell him that you sent me there ... Let's see
