Methanol injection help

I have a meth kit that I installed and have been using it for a while but I have installed it by having a bottom in the center console to inject when desired. I want to have it inject under certain boost. What do I need to convert my system?

You would need to add a variable controller. Snow performance, aem, Aquamist, all of these and I'm sure there are others sell parts and complete kits.
A variable controller will be able to come on at a certain psi, stay on and progressively spray until a desired amount of psi is reached.

or you can go mechanical and get a Hobbs switch, which you pre-set for a specific psi for the switch to close. which I have at the moment but I will upgrade to a progressive controller later.

Are you guys using the MAP signal or are you adding your own sensor for boost pressure?

Here's a link to my water/meth install writeup - might give you some ideas:

Easiest is to use a hobs switch. Or run a progressive controller that reads an actual boost signal, not voltage.

I tried using the MAF and MAP with no luck. I ended up running an AEM digital boost gauge with a 0-5v output to control my cheap HPC controller.

I used a snow kit...it reads the pressure from the charge pipe (welded on). Make sure you watch your EGTs. Anything over 50% meth is going to ramp them up quickly. First stage kicks in at 18 psi second at 26 psi.

Are you running a tune providing more than stock boost? If not, you're 2nd stage will never come on.

I wonder if the altitude here near Denver is limiting my boost to around 25.

Where are you pulling your boost reference?

You can use a 1/8 npt and tap the plastic elbow or manifold. No welding is required.

The fellow I purchased my kit from tapped the meth bung into the plastic elbow. it has been holding up pretty well actually.

Tap the manifold the same way and use an 1/8 npt 1/4 nipple to get your boost reference for your controller.

that would have been far easier and cheaper...however there was also the issue of placement of the nozzles...I wanted them placed before the IAT...that doesn't negate your point about placement of the pressure sensor

Are you also running a boost gauge? If so, did you T it off for both signals?

Yes I run an AEM digital gauge. I use the AEM map sensor tapped into the manifold to feed the gauge.

Then, the gauge has a 0-5v output I run my WI off of.

I run a Devils Own kit. You can pick up one of their progressive controllers for under $200.
http://www.alcohol-injection.com/en/...ontroller.html

I am running up to 35psi boost and have the controller starting at 22psi maxing at 30 with a 1000cc nozzle. It works well for me. If I decide to go further with my car, (hybrid turbo) I would probably have to look at a better controller, but for what I have it works.

Another question for those who have their tank in the trunk. Which route are you using for running your hose. I ran mine through the the back seat to the kick panel trim into the dash but the back seat pinches it off when my fold downs are latched in.

I have a bulk head fitting in the truck floor. Tube goes from pump to bulkhead, from bulkhead to over the subframe on the driver side and then follows the fuel lines all the way to the engine compartment.
