335d Power Steering

Hey y'all,

Just got in the car and started it... Steering wheel tightened up within seconds of starting the car and then I saw smoke from under the hood. I don't see any belts messed up, but there's a burning smell and smoke. If I restart the car, the steering is loose again, but tightens up imidiately. Safe to say the power steering pump has given out? The car has 80K on it.

Check your crank pulley. They are known for failing and causing the belts to start smoking.

Classic harmonic dampener issue. What is your mileage.

Yep. Good to know for folks around that mileage though. Could definitely be preventative maintenance.
