Replace hose with?
I know Ive seen pictures of this POS brittle hose somewhere... Is everyone replacing it with radiator hose or something? What are we thinking here?

Kinda what I was thinking...no reason for it to be that thin of plastic. There isnt an aftermarket version of this out there right? just a normal hose...correct? Is this in a place that it needs to be silicone?

Actually i just remembered, i have mine somewhere in garage, if you need it
This is the hose which needs to be removed in order to install oil catch can. So i believe a lot of people on the forum have them around This area is generally hot side of the engine so silicone probably will work better, anyway rubber will last many years, just make sure it is oil resistant hose as it is an oil breather. But having it broken i would say go for catch can install, i truly believe it is a needed mod. |

Push lok hydraulic hose would be about the best oil resistant option, happen to able to measure the two od's? I'll check it against some pieces of hose in the shop. Silicone will work for awhile, but it will eventually soften and bleed.

I replaced mine with some silicone hose, but its seeping out around the ends of the hose now. I'm thinking of going with the OEM piece again, unless that Push Lok hose would work?

FYI, that OEM ribbed hose can only be purchased as part of an assy with top connector that snaps onto plastic duct as well as small harness. I recall getting whole assy for $63 from Husker. I had broke the ribbed hose and wanted to have it if I go back to OEM setup. I put pic of that assy in earlier thread.
EDIT: added picture here. Last edited by BB_cuda; 04-10-2016 at 08:09 AM.. |

Pretty fragile hose. Last year all I did was look at it and it just split in 2. Installed some rubber hose from there to the valve cover to keep driving it until the new part came in. New assembly still sitting in a box as my d has been running fine and not leaking any residual spooge 8 months later
