(Sorry title should say April 2016)

As of April 6, 2016, the iOS version can force a DPF regen.

Finally. I've been waiting on this for a long, long time. Seems like it's been promised for over a year now.

I'm going to try it out this week when my DPF is ready for a regen. I believe there are several boxes that must checked before it's allowed (avg mileage and distance since last teen, particulate mass, pressure differential, etc.)

I'm not at my car now so screenshots below are of the app without any connection.

I was able to purchase as my logs have the E90 M57TU2 engine in it.

It's strange because Carly only makes references to N47 and N57 in the update notes, but I was able to make in-app purchase nonetheless ($9.99 USD).

I received an email from them as well today. I am using android carly with orig BT adapter. Hoping to test it out next weekend.

I wish they would also adjust distance scale from meters/ft to something easier to track in thousands/hundreds like 50802.3 miles or 306.3 miles since last regen. Not 344245244 ft

LOL. I leave mine in metric. 100000m = 62 miles so that's an easy conversion. I look for a coolant temp target of 88C.

Got their email today.

I hope it works on out cars now.
I had an incomplete regen today, so this function of their app would help a lot to catch up on the missed ones.

Kicked off a regen with Carly 3 days ago. It worked flawlessly. Really impressed given that I had lost hope these guys were ever gonna make it work.

so is there such a thing as overdoing regens or Carly wont allow a regen unless there is a minimum miles accumulated or there is regen which failed recently.

so manual regen is really a benefit since it allows you to plan your trips better? meaning if i drive a lot in the city and i know i will be taking a longer trip soon 50 miles lets say, i can do my regen cleaning then instead of a random time while i am stuck in traffic.

For me the biggest benefit is kicking off a regen when I know I am going to be on a long drive and the stimulated soot mass is above 10g.

Used this feature over the weekend when I drove from San Diego to Los Angeles and back. I, too, was wondering if I was overdoing it by requesting a regen there and another when returning home. There are certain parameters that are set according to Carly so I figured it would be okay to request.

I also added this and tried a regen. It waited until I was cruising fast for a while to kick in, but it went really quick. It was cool to watch the soot numbers decrease.

I tried to call up another one the next day as I'm trying to get my car to pass emissions and supposedly it has to do 2 successive regens without codes, but it won't do it again just yet.

Pretty cool nonetheless.

Bought the add-on, only to be disappointed that it doesn't support my Bluetooth dongle (official one from when Carly used to be called BMWhat). Apparently I have to buy the "Gen 2" variant for another $60

Where are you getting it for $60? I'm in the same boat, and the new adapter is on Amazon now for $79.

I downloaded the Carly app for iOS last week to check my DPF parameters, I was suspecting I wasn't getting a regen, due to a throttle Position code, The throttle was replaced under a extended warranty campaign, $$ saved
I had driven the car for about a 1500 miles before getting it in to the dealer, in that time it gave me the DPF message, I think the throttle code was preventing a regen leading to a build up off soot, and therefore excessive back pressures, resulting in more codes, also preventing a regen even after the throttle was replaced.... a vicious circle.
So I was hoping to force a Regen form the Carly app, but the VeePeak adaptor
http://www.amazon.com/Veepeak-Scanne.../dp/B00WPW6BAE
apparently isn't good enough to read the cars parameters.. so I just ordered there Gen ii adaptor Monday, form Amazon for $79, should have it tomorrow. At least now ill be able to see when the last regen was.
Ironically before I set off for work this morning I erased all the codes (with the veepeak), in the hope I could get the car to do a regen. after sitting at 70 for 30 min, The SES light stayed off along with the DPF messages ... fingers crossed.. lets see what the drive home brings..

I bought the gen 2 adapter yesterday, should be arriving tomorrow.

I was planning on using it to do battery registration, but is it worth the full $60 for the app?

Can I still force a regen with Carly if I have codes?
I can't seem to clear the particle filter 00480A code.

I have no idea if Carly will let you force a regen when you have the 0480A code, but Carly should let you clear that code at which point you should be able to get a regular or forced regen.

See this thread from the UK forum related to achieving regen after getting the 0480A code:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=651679&page=3

These guys had success by resetting the code while driving, often repeated times, which let the regen finally take place. Most were using OBD cables and INPA software running on laptops, but near the end someone chimed in that they were successful using Carly (iOS version). Note that they were not invoking a forced regen but simply clearing the 0480A code so a natural regen could take place.

FYI, they were also using DPF cleaner fuel additives. They seem to be pretty commonplace in Europe. I recently looked to get a DPF cleaner additive here in the states (I was having a short 280 mile average regen cycle) and the only one I could readily find was Lubro Moly (I used that and the one treatment increased my average cycle by about 20% so I am happy with it). You may want to give that a try as well. The DPF additives work by somehow facilitating DPF burn off at lower temperatures resulting in more complete regens.

Thanks, there's some good info on that thread,
I just have to keep clearing the codes and hope I can get a regen to start.
I just received my Carly adapter today and apparently my last regen was 4,147,644 m ago......
