Banks iDash display Review

Well, after I saw Zuke737 mention something about this and having gauges, I had to look into it for myself.

I have had the days with 4-6 gauges in the various cars displaying all the vital engine parameters and I knew I didn't want that in the D. The Banks iDash is perfect!!

The iDash will show what's going on in real-time (off OBD port) and I couldn't be happier!!! They have two options a 4.3in and 5in. I opted for the smaller size as I didn't want it taking up too much space. Here is a link to the Banks website http://bankspower.com/banksiq

I currently have it displaying Boost, EGT, Intake Temp, Engine Temp and Fuel Rail Pressure. I would have liked to display Trans Temp and Oil Temp, but that wasn't an option. :/

This also has track features that will do 0-60mph, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile and maybe a few other options (haven't really played with this part yet).

It has an economy display that shows mpg but also you can enter in the cost of fuel and will show you cost of operation. I haven't done this yet, but I'm excited to see what the numbers are.

Over all I am super happy about the purchase. It took all of 3 minutes to install and start playing with it. I bought mine from Paul P&L Motorsports and had it within a few days.

Does anyone else have this?

Hmm, very interesting... I was looking into this as well. Seems pretty cool, if it's accurate?

Was gonna ask that as well. Is it reading EGTs from the car, or did you install the external sensor?

I did not add EGT sensor. I assume it is reading off the factory sensor?

Dan,
Great to here you like it, after 3 weeks I love it. I had a scan gauge in my VW but this is so much nicer. Five stars.

Looks great. Couple of questions for you:
1- In the picture it appears that you have the unit mounted low-down close to the dash, in a position which doesn't obstruct the side window defroster vent - is this the case?
2- Have you tried the code reader?

Thanks,

Erik

Yes! That is exactly where I positioned it. I think it's perfect there.

I have tried the code reader. It gives the code but no description, I was kinda bummed it didn't provide more info. I'll take a picture of it in the AM on my way into work so you can see it. I'll also take pictures of the other option menus.

I want to say retail on the smaller screen is $329 introductory price. Worth every penny to me!

Bobbly,
I bought mine from Banks and the sales man gave me the newest model, they really don't have one for BMW. Just get the one for the new model trucks.

I'm curious to know how accurate it is and wonder what boost levels would look like when there is a tune present on the DDE.

Torque with some custom PID's and a Bluetooth dongle will set you back about 15 bucks.

Bumping this thread for some more info.
As someone else asked. Can you change the gauge style to Analog?
Does this device show battery voltage?

I have been planning on buying one of these considering how useless the factory cluster is even on a stock vehicle let alone when modified one.
