Hey guys. Earlier in OmahaDZL discussions it seems like we can all agree that this harmonic pulley failure can cause some problems, especially under high load. Through my research it seems like Fluidampr is the most solid aftermarket choice we MAY have. After getting off the phone with the wholesale account manager it seems to me that if we can find 50 people interested in this part they can fabricate it to perfection! Here is a link to their website, let me know what you guys think. I am not affiliated with Fluidampr nor will be receiving any compensation for this community gesture.

I'd be interested depending on price. It's not something I'm willing to pay the BMW tax on though. We don't really rev that high and our internals are pretty stout.

That said, I'd be interested as a preventive maintenance part and not for the performance aspect. If the cost of the fluid damper is in line with replacement damper cost, count me in.

I'm sure there are a few engineers that can shed some light on an aftermarket dampers on this diesel. Hope they contribute here.

I'm interested as well. I'm looking to install a new pulley as a preventative measure since my mileage is over 100k and I'm still on the factory pulley.

Ya, sounds like the stock one is a ticking time bomb so I'd be interested depending on the price as well.

Good points. The price he told me over the phone was in the $300 range. I will communicate this thread with him to get the ball rolling per say, maybe we can get a 3 month lead time. Like another said, they are very reputable with vw crowd and have many accomplishments so inferior quality shouldn't be an issue.

Question I have for you guys. Is this harmonic pulley the same part on euro spec and say the USA x5d?

Yes, according to RealOEM all the vehicles with the M57N2 have the same part number, I checked Early/Late EURO/US model 335d as well as the US X5d.

Awesome! Here is a link on a vw golf install. Everything sounds super promising about this manufacturer.

If they're $300, I'll take 2. One for the 335d and one for the 35d (if they're the same)

Thanks for looking into this.

As long as it's in the price range of the oem part, or less, I'm in. $300 sounds pretty reasonable

What is the longevity of the silicone fluid filled damper? My understanding is that the fluid must deteriorate over time and heat cycles.
