Wagner intercooler fitting.
Hi guys I have just purchased a Wagner intercooler in preparation for my hybrids going on.
I am trying to cut costs wherever possible so would like to fit the intercooler myself. Does anyone know of a guide I could follow? Or have any advice would be helpful thanks. |

If it's a direct fit replacement & you can't find a online video, Google mishimoto 135/335i inter cooler, they have a installation video on there website. I would assume fitting to be similar.

It's not too hard.
Put car on ramps or stands Remove under tray Disconnect C clips on IC Unbolt IC Drop IC Trim the black fan shroud enough to fit the Wagner IC Lift up new IC and align hoses Connect hoses (make sure they slide in easily, if not they won't get a good seal) with C clips attached. You will hear an audible click once they're in the correct spot. Bolt up the IC with the spacers and bolts included Put back on under tray Unramp or stand the car. Enjoy Total time: 2 beers or 45mins. Helpful tips: I use a floor jack to lift the IC into place. The sockets needed are 8mm and 10mm, and angled pliers help out as well to get the C clips off.

Not sure if Wagner is different but reconnection of hose to IC inlet can be tricky. The best bet (that I found) is to remove red hose from turbo outlet. Next connect red hose to IC inlet while it's still out of car. Much easier. Install IC. Reconnect hose to turbo outlet. The IC outlet hose us more manageable with IC already bolted in. I had the red hose blow off on me by not getting it fully seated in. Got immediate limp mode on first decent pull.

You don't have to trim the plastic, but will need an extra set of hands to "pull" on the bumper to slide it in to place. For me it was a pain to connect the red hose, wish I had the tip/thought of removing it, connecting it on the IC and then re-installing

Just as a suggestion, after having done a lot of ic installs. When the ic hose is really hard to get on lube it up,with some soapy water.. Sometimes they are quiet tight and hard to put on.

I am on of the first to install the IC from Wagner and yes we had to rim a little for it to fit the bottom lip of bumper it may have contact in some cars others don't. . Once you install IC you will determine if needed or not. And welcome to the new realm of ICs

If the hose gets caught up inside the coupling then most likely it's the seal that's twisting and preventing a good fit. I've installed my IC maybe 15 times and found the best way to install the hoses is to slightly rock it until it eases into position. It shouldn't give much resistance while sliding inside.
A bent hose will cause problems as well.

That is a nice guide for anyone else who needs it. I may even give it another shot when my pipes come as I have to wait till next week for it to go into the garage. |

PN# 11617791470 (green seal, hot side)
PN# 11617791469 (black seal, cold side) Get a few of those as well and replace them. The Forge pipe is good. It's a bit of a pain in the ass to install but it makes it easier in the long run.
