It's great for bragging rights i suppose to have a quad turbo, though going with a larger displacement engine and fewer turbos would probably have been more cost effective, and reliable.

It's all moot to me, as the engine wont likely come to the us. Also is it me or is it an incremental improvement over the Tripple turbo 50d. Adding another turbo added ~20hp? Hardly seems worth it, given the cost and complexity of the plumbing, oh and BMWs. A tunned Tripple turbo seems like a good bet.

Though I want one :-)

I can't imagine the amount of heat that engine puts out.
Apparently they had to limit the power because of the transmission can't handle too much, but it will likely change.
European car manufacturers are pushing toward smaller engine displacement in order to comply with tougher emission rules. See Volvo's new engine lineup.

What would be the cost of cleaning and or repairs on a quad turbo engine if the car is driven mainly in the city (missed regens)?

They don't remove turbos for cbu, so about the same? If you mean the dpf, it's after all the turbos so also about the same.

Remember what happened to my car? Just about everything had to be replaced since it was all clogged up.

So 1 in every 10k will need to pull the turbos and clean and fix a problem that wasn't caught earlier. Doesn't seem like a big deal.

Honestly, it seems cool. Until you realize I suspect this was bmws response to the release of audio twin turbo 4.0l v8 diesel.. Bmw built An interesting engine, but it really seems adding the 4th turbo was a very minor improvement over the triple. But how it drives could be quite different. Id like to drive one once, just to compare the two.

Yeah. My guess is that it feels like a gasser on the low end. On paper, our tuned twin turbo cars are producing around the same power and torque numbers.
