Logic 7 retrofit/swap (from a donor car)

Hey folks,

So I've found a wrecked E90 that will soon be stripped for parts. Id like to go and remove the full Logic 7 audio system and retrofit it into my car. My car came with Hifi/Professional/iPod/Aux/Bluetooth. I will most likely install it the same time I do a NBT retrofit, so a lot of the interior will already be taken out or disassembled.

My question is, what all do I need to remove and source from this donor car?
  • Dash Speaker & Grill
  • Front Door Mid-Range Speakers
  • Front Door Tweeters and window molding
  • FrontUnder seat subwoofers
  • Rear Door Mid-Range Speakers
  • Rear Door Panels
  • Rear Deck Mid-Range Speakers
  • Rear Deck Tweeters
  • Trunk Mounted Logic 7 Amp

Thats a total of 13 speakers. However, last but not least is the wiring harness. Does this harness start in the trunk and lead to each and every speaker? Or could I somehow re-use my existing wiring? Are there any other modules needed for the Logic 7 system? Is there somewhere that I could find diagrams and schematics (I haven't fully searched for them yet).

NBT is a whole other story, I'll worry about that later. I mainly want to know what all I need to remove from this donor car.

I appreciate any guidance you may have to offer.

Thanks,
Tom.

FYI

Looks like you would have to do the rear deck for speaker
locations there to.

Most aftermarket stuff for audio is better than logic 7
though.

If I'm not mistaken I believe the rear deck can be cut to add the tweeters. I'm not sure if the mid-range speakers swaps without any modifications though.

Did I miss something? That thread only covers the navigation retrofit, not Logic 7.

Almost nobody in the US does a logic 7 retrofit

Almost nobody in the US does a logic 7 retrofit
sometimes a European does it . Yes it doesn't show
the logic 7 part but is does show the idrive part.
but its at least some of it.

From what I've gathered it's a pity, but for the right price I wouldn't mind doing the retrofit. I'm guessing the harness is the biggest hassle.

Does anyone know where I could find a wiring schematic for the audio system? That may help tremendously with determine what is needed and how to uninstall/re-install everything.

Do non hifi cars have the MOST wiring structure installed from the factory that supports the logic 7 system?

If not, bail fast and bail hard, otherwise this is going to be a time sink.

Stealing all the speakers, except for the underwear woofers is a good idea, tho. Do that.

OP, I have logic7 but to be honest, it's okay sound IMO so I am not sure if the retrofit is worth it.

I've had it in a previous car and although it's not the best, it's certainly better then the base hifi. I am mearly trying to take advantage of the opertunity.

As long as it's cheap why not. I just wouldn't spend too much as you can buy superior aftermarket stuff pretty cheaply too.

you need all wiring going from amplifier
speaker wires to the doors connectors
front dash speaker grille cover
MOST circuit to the rear concentrator
these wires are combined with main audio harness, but you have to remove front seats, central console tunnel and all details attached to dashboard to remove this wiring
you also need rear door trims if you have base audio system

Make sure you remove the WHOLE wiring harness too. Logic 7 won't work with your wiring, you need the wiring from the donor vehicle as well. Let us know how it goes.

Yeah, that harness swap is really starting to sound like it's not worth the effort. I'll probably just skip the Logic 7 retrofit, and just upgrade the base components.

I'll install the front tweeters near the window trim, and add tweeters to the rear deck. However, I'm wondering if I could add the rear door panel speakers? Would that screw up the acoustics of the car?

if you have good soldering skill you can cut harness near amplifier and get most circuit part to most concentrator
after that you can run new cables in car and solder them to amplifier harness
