335d Mbrp Downpipe Cheap On Ebay

Hey guys,

I was online doing some investgating and found on eBay that MBRP downpipe is $112 that supposedly fits our cars.

I have MBRP on my truck and they provide a good exhaust system for my Cummins truck at a fraction of the cost. Has anyone seen this or had any experiences. I know they say they fit the following vehicles:

The MBRP number is DA6218. Below is the link for the eBay link. I am really curious how this will work on our cars....I'm just flabbergasted at how a lot of our vendors are killing us on downpipes for our cars. I know the weld qualities are amazing and you are paying for stainless steel etc. But at the end of the day it's just an exhaust pipe. I mean I paid $300 turbo back for my Cummings diesel for an aluminized exhaust 4" turbo back. So I am having a hard time swallowing the pill on a $2k unobtanium exhaust that isn't even a full turbo back....

That looks pretty sick. Judging by the pic, would fit like a glove.

I'm not sure what you're looking at, but it's not even close. A quick Google search shows the same pipe on amazon for $99 and NOT a fit for the 335d

Well I submitted the request and the list of vehicles comes back with what I posted above. I even asked multiple vendors and appearently they are compatible. Just strange but pretty cool if it works!

I'm really debating it since it does come with the bungs....

If you go to mbrp website, you'll see that they don't make parts for BMW. Just trying to help you out on this one.

While I agree that everything for our cars comes at a premium, I understand that it takes as much time and effort to develop for a tremendously smaller potential market base. So, it is, what it is.

I did check MBRP's website. I plan to call them next week to get the information from the horses mouth.

I agree completely low volume specialized type work will always go for a premium. But if we can find budget parts, I am all for it. I will update accordingly.

Same here. Put a MBRP downpipe, muffler and entire pipping system on my Powerstroke for less than half what most vendors want for just a dp on our 335d. I also agree that a gold plated, diamond laced, carbon fiber covered, stainless steel downpipe, with flashing neons could just be aluminized steel and i'd be perfectly happy. Im not going to show my car or keep it for 100 years.

You guys are comparing the 335d to diesel trucks...
There have literally been hundreds of thousands of those trucks manufactured since they have been putting diesels in trucks.
There have been less than 10K units sold of the 335d in North America! Only a small % of that are owned by enthusiasts that have any interest in modifying their cars.
Also you are comparing a hand made stainless steel exhaust to something that is mass produced. There isn't a huge market for the 335d, so there aren't dozens of manufacturers competing to sell to eager buyers.

Completely understand and agree. The thing is we have multiple vendors now and all are providing similar product and material. While I can attest that the craftsmanship is different from each manufacturer, my point is there needs to be other material introduced. I.e. Aluminized steel for those not looking to buy that 5 carat ring. Why create a monopoly on just stainless steel product. I don't need the 5 carat ring. I would prefer the 1 carat or less. Catch my drift. I think we need to be supplied with multiple options.

It seems the PRO FI stainless steel with downpipe is the way to go hence the price given. All the others are gouging in my eyes because of limited competition. Now they may not be gouging because like you were saying are not mass producing so their volume is low and the man hours are expensive. Completely understand. But again we need to have more competitive pricing.

I do compare it to my truck because I'm getting larger pipe and longer runs yet I'm paying fraction of the cost and here again a limited audience in the truck market not everyone is getting a tune and putting large pipe on their trucks. So you really can't compare to a mass market. It's also limited but may not be of a small circle as our 335d community, but it is still limited.

MBRP's website does not include BMW in their product selection tools. Unfortunately, Ebay is notorious for having inaccurate, generic fitment menus.

The advantage of SS is its poor heat transfer. I want the heat energy going into the turbo. After the turbo, other decisions come into play.

I've been in email contact with MBRP about building a downpipe for our cars and this was the response they sent me. I know they make CAT delete pipes but I guess they don't want to delete the DPF:

----------------------
Hi Mike taking off the stock down pipe deletes the dpf and we are not deleting any part of the emissions systems

Sorry we cannot do this parts for you

Thank you for your emails

Interesting. I bet there afraid of all the emissions related headlines happening around that they prefer not to be involved. Yet they make exhausts for the newer trucks.... Wild. We'll pursued different route since I was not in the mood to be the Guinea pig on this one. Although it really does mistify me since it sure does look similar to the other down pipes....
