Need a breakdown for all navigation, audio, and phone parts etc
I'm thinking about doing some upgrades in my car, is there a list of all the parts that changed between 05/2007 to 2012?
More specifically I really don't like how slow the bluetooth is in my car, how I can't stream music, playlist, and album data to it, how I can't control it using the steering wheel controls.

You have to know what your are starting with
You have to know what your are starting with
and we would have to know to even suggest a path. BMW has been extremely slow to modernize there electronics. If you start with idrive go to the idrive sub forum and look up the NBT upgrade if you want to stay OEM. If you have the Pro Radio then the Dynavin N6 is the most compatible head unit. Sound system are still a different subject. No steaming audio or much in the way of internet functions till around 2011 in BMW's(and only with idrive) If you just want a simple way to do bluetooth streaming that is a different subject to. Do you have USB? Last edited by ctuna; 06-02-2016 at 11:31 AM.. |

I don't have USB. I have the aux port. Here are the things I don't like on my 2007 335i with navigation.
The bluetooth is extremely slow to connect when I turn the car on. I would like to be able to stream music through bluetooth and control tracks and view track information using the steering wheel controls. I would like to be able to store music on the car somehow, perhaps like a removable thumb drive, this isn't a big concern though. Another one, again not really that important, but I like the look of the CIC interface (but not a big deal).

Look up NBT upgrade on the idrive subforum.

other than that you can add usb and bluetooth streaming with a Dension gateway 500 bt, but it won't make your idrive/nav any better. |

There is the NBT retrofit but

I don't know how hard it is to jump to the latest without going through the middle. It does however have all the things that are in modules on the last version of the e90 nav integrated into the head unit. If you are pulling out the idrive think about it . What happens to the screen in the dash hump its dead if you don't hook it up to something. The one guy that did this was memeber Mathamatics . But he has a audio shop I think. Doing any kind of aftermarket head unit in these has side effects idrive or regular pro radio . If you are considering this you should study it a lot before doing it. Bimmertech just announced Apple TV on NAV how this relates I don't know. |
