I join the ranks
Picked me up a LMB m-sport from Houston a few weeks ago. In true 335d fashion, the check engine light came on before I got out of the sellers neighborhood. I had been trolling this forum for a while before I picked up the car and reading all the nightmare check engine light stories had me somewhere between amused and wondering if I had made the correct choice. I still had to drive 4 hrs back to Dallas. After a 6hr drive back to Dallas thru some horrible storms including a 30 mile 90+mph final dash, I made it home and into the garage with no hail damage. DFW has been getting smoked with hail lately. So I had the fear in me.
Fault code is 4d16. So I guess I'm part of the club. I feel some mods coming on. ...and if anyone out there from st.louis missed out on a car from Houston..my bad. |

This informative post may be of interest to you. Cheap part to replace and the likeliehood of it being the same scenario is quite high. Thanks floydarogers.

I might suggest you flush your coolant as well after replacing your thermostat.

Interesting.. Ty for reply and suggestions. I'll come up with a way to monitor coolant temps and report back. I was going to remove and clean the scr. I guess I'll add a thermo replacement to project list.
I had cleared the fault just after I got the car and CEL stayed away for a week. Then it came back on. Cleared and only stayed away for a day. Time to do something.. Lol |

Pretty sure 4d16 was the maf code? Either that or something to do with scr. had both replaced under warranty multiple times.
Welcome to the forum, enjoy the car! As many problems as it has, and it has many, it is the best thing out there for what it does. |

Thanks.. It was scr efficiency.
I am enjoying the car. It's been a dream car since 2011. I had an opportunity to take a 335d to South Carolina for training at the BMW performance center in Spartanburg. I fell in love with the car during that trip. My buddy and I deliberately took a "roundabout" way thru Tennessee and hit the Tail of the dragon on the way down. Absolutely the best road trip ever! I was pushing that car hard on the dragon and the traction control only intervened twice. Love the car Last edited by Elastokinematic; 06-15-2016 at 05:58 AM.. |
