You know you've had a loaner a long time...

I just thought this was funny. My car has been in the shop for closing in on a month. I have a 2016 328i as a loaner, the dealer called me up and said I need to swap loaners. They sold the current loaner I'm driving and want to trade me out for a 340i..

Lol, you've had a loaner a long time when the dealer decided it needs to be replaced.

Only a saga that us 335d peeps would understand.

Back when mine was in on extended stay for CBU cleaning they had to switch out my loaner with another because it was in need of oil service. That was a fun 3 months making payments for a car I didn't have.

Many of us can relate. I went from a 328 to a 528 back in Dec '14 / Jan '15 (when my car spent a month at the dealership).

Your upgraded loaner sounds like a lot more fun. Enjoy.

I had 3 loaners. 328i -> 335i -> 328d wagon
Obviously the wagon was the best. The 335i had some balls for sure but I just think the e9x is a better car to drive.

I've gotten to drive quite an assortment of newer, more expensive beemers, but I like my d the best.

Thecastle, we have got to talk. You need to get out of "the cage" you are in. I understand your thought process of "get her behaving" before you deviate from stock.

I agree, but if they keep fixing it for free, I'll let them at it. I suspect the DDE is bad, and we just need to get that replaced and its tune city.

On the upside. This is the cheapest way I've ever found to "lease" new BMWs. I bought my D used, but I'm driving a new car for price of payments on a used car! My actual payments are about 300 a month of the D, Can't lease a 340i for that price :-)

Yeah I feel the same.

OP, let us know how you like the 340 and the new engine it has!

So how is the 340i? How does it compare to a gasser e90 335?

Ha ha, when my 335d was at the dealer for an oil leak, i first had a 118i, then they got me a 320d Luxury from Enterprise, Enterprise then swapped that out for a 320d Touring xDrive, BMW then said take that back and we'll give you a 320d Sport with performance goodies.

That was a total of 4 weeks!

Haven't gotten the 340i yet. Basically the 340i has a new engine, and more power than the 335i. Clear Lake is out of loaner cars at the moment, but they have sold my current car. So they're just waiting for a 340i to come back in, and will swap me. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks with this 328i, kinda of grown used to it and moved in.

Didn't get a 340i :-(

They swapped me into a brand new (500 miles) 2017 BMW X5 35 . Did get to almost have a conjugal visit with my current car. I got to see it drive off with the mechanic after the latest round of parts replacement. Still buying my 2011 335D is a cheap way to get a new 2017 X5.

I had the 328i 1 month, I suspect I'll have the X5 2-3 weeks.
