What size bung...

I can't find anywhere the specs for the EGT bung. I have the Profi and a source of bungs but can't find anywhere stating the specs for the bung needed.

Go look up the threading spec on the EGT itself on perhaps realoem.com. Last resort would be To buy several sizes of metric screws. Remove EGT and try the assortment until one fits. Bingo, there is needed bung threading.

I have an even better idea. My DPF is currently available so I will go to h/w store and find proper screw that fits into the EGT bungs. Is that a deal or what?

Thanks for the insight! Here's the full sotry.

I received my Profi exhaust and tomorrow will be receiving my DDE from Rodriguez. I'm tying to figure out if I'll need to weld a bung or not and if so I'm trying to get the bung before I start the complete install tomorrow. My last resort option was to wait until tomorrow when I get my and the tuned dde back, drive to the install location, wait until it cools, then start the install and take the egt to the shop with a selection of bungs. But with your information if your able to, I can get it tomorrow morning and have on hand in the event I need to add one. I got the Stage 2.5 and was told I only need 1 o2 and 1 egt. here's the dp, do I need any more bungs?

thanks for the reply and help!

M12x1.25. I took DPF to lowes and started trying different screws until this fit. It fits all 3 EGT locations.
EDIT: the bung has a "floor" in though where eventually the M12 thread will bottom out but the EGT tip will poke through. I have a photo but don't know how to upload it with phone. You get my point I hope.

Best to ask Andrew. If memory serves correct, only need the front EGT and O2. My DPF has the O2 higher up than EGT. Your pic looks like the bung locations are switched. The O2 sensor is big in terms of interfering with other things. Perhaps you're okay but just letting you know if O2 is too high up( like on my ecotune pipe) it was a problem. Banned one moved bung for me. This was very nice of him considering it wasn't his error.

If anyone needs bungs, I can easily spin some up on a lathe. The m12x1.25 is kind of a bastard thread for off the shelf weld bugs.

Higher up was meaning with regard to where along the circumference not axially. Axial location looks fine. On the DPF, those 2 are very close to the V band ring.

335dlci, were you in the original 10 and never installed the pipe? Only way you will know if it fits is to try. Ox bung might be fine. Definitely consider getting the tubes cut off and welded over. Not much expertise needed for that.

I have the profi, system and bought a Buzzken down pipe prior to profi. I welded my egt bung in the exact location at buzzken DP. The EGT bungs are the same as the Dodge cummins as they use bosch 02 and EGT

So I installed the profi exhaust and ran into one design problem. As shown earlier in the thread, it came with 2 bungs, an o2 and an egt. The EGT bung did not lock in the egt sensor as mentioned by someone above so I had to do the following: cut out the oem bung, cut off the profi bung, then weld on in the same location the oem bung that was cut off.

I haven't fine tuned everything so my drivers side tip is sitting too high. Planning on fine tuning everything on Wednesdayish. In the mean time took it to a one day turn around trip to AZ. with Jared's stage 2.5 tune and wow!! It's perfect! Will do a full write up later this week with more photos and videos etc.

So the issue with the profi bung was that the bung didnt have the proper "bottom" to it to stop the sensor going futher in? The location they had it was ok?

Interesting, I had them just throw mine in the box so I don't have to cut it out, I wonder if you can just drill the right size hole in the downpipe and weld the bung over the top of the hole so that the downpipe wall provides the bottom. I don't know what the egt sensor looks like so I guess I'll check that out to see if it's possible.

So I'm currently running around town to find a damn bung to put on the stock exhaust since I took that one off for the profi. here is an explanation of the issue with the profi bung and I demonstrate what we mean about the egt.

Is the end kind of a conical shape to create a good seal on the end of the bung or is it flat?

tapered...

Do you think a new bung should have a seat to create a "Seal"?
