Mexico Blue Individual F82 M4 with competition package "el segundo" :)

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi all,

I got a very special M4, and I'm completely ecstatic about how well it came out! It's an individal color called Mexico Blue, which was a Porsche color from 1974.

. The end of the video shows how different the color looks in slightly different lighting.

I was lucky enough to get a GT4 a couple months ago, and really wanted to order the GT4 in Mexico Blue or Voodoo Blue, but the Porsche factory wouldn't accept 'paint to sample' colors as production was ending soon and starting for the 718. I settled on white, and still had a lingering itch to order a custom Mexico Blue car, so the color went to the M4, which BMW was happy to accomodate (my backup choice was San Marino blue, which I think is also an amazing option).

It's my second M4, so I had the benefit of optimizing some options I wanted changed since the first one:
  • I changed from DCT to manual. The manual feels much more raw and visceral in this car, and lends itself very well to the increased performance of the competition package for my style of driving. Although slightly slower on track, I enjoy it more on the road where it will be 99% of the time. I've read that the manual transmission weighs 55 lbs less than the DCT.
  • I got rid of the sunroof, mainly for aesthetics. A better driver can offset the 45 lbs of the sunroof any day, so performance wasn't the main factor for me, but I thought it would be too much to have a bright colored car with less contrast.
  • Competition Package became available, so I was happy to order it. Had competition package not been available, I would have ordered San Marino blue, as it feels like more of a luxury color to me.

I was planning to get a black interior with blue stitching, but after seeing Revolver's M3 in Mexico Blue with Opal White interior, I decided this would be a fun path to experiment with. Much credit to Revolver: thank you Revolver for taking this daring color combo that works brilliantly and giving me the confidence to order the combo. The car is totally beautiful with the door open when you get to see the exterior paint and interior color.

I am using Leather Masters Leather Protection Cream from Amazon to keep the seats protected and easy to clean, and so far it has been working great versus the last time I had a light colored interior. BMW did a good job making the lower portions black, so they don't get marked up like the old fully light-colored interiors.

I've attached a few pics, but sadly they are smartphone pics. I think the pictures don't capture the color very accurately, you really do have to see it in person. I'd say it looks a little darker and deeper in real life.

Summary - I've had many BMWs but never ordered individual, and I'm very happy that I did this time!

Love the color! It's amazing how many of us purchase multiple M's (..same car, different color/options). It's a real testament to how great these cars are. I'm ordered my second M4, and much like you, I went Individual this time. Prior to that, as far as M cars go, I had three E9X M3's and two E46 M3's.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I don't know about the extra leather, no reason why not. Maybe because I have it in my GT3 and it's the one option I wish I didn't get. Not necessary to make the experience better for me. Maybe I'm missing out and don't know it?

you are indeed missing out. full leather covers all the doors, full dash and lower dash and glovebox all in stitching and leather. it greatly improves the interior

So true that us true M people do have multiple M's. I still have my first M3 (E30), M3 Light Weight (E36) still till today.
