Audio issues

My radio - professional HU, sat radio, HiFi, went out a while back thanks to a 3 year old sticking quarters in the CD slot. After that I ended up with loud static popping noises for a while and then... nothing.

So dead radio. Solution: replace radio with same exact part number found on ebay. Plug it in and sound barely works. Very low volume and then no volume.

Replace amp with exact same part number, found on ebay. Plug it in and now I have door gong, and radio

Current problem: volume will not go much above a whisper. Audio volume is very low. Neither volume knob nor steering wheel volume control will turn it up. The gong and music are very very low. Do I need this coded? I figured with replacement radio and amp both being exact part number matches this should be standard PnP.

If I do need recoding I may as well wait until I put in my new FRM v3 as it is sitting in the box awaiting install.

*I've checked fuses, all are good. I've checked connections, all are good. I've unhooked negative battery terminal for 20 mins and still.. no fix.

You have to check the coding

You have to check the coding although I don't see why it
would be lower. If was L7 I would think there would be no
analog output and if it was stereo is would be speaker level outs.
The head unit is programmable for any of the three systems.

Stereo=speaker outs
Hi Fi = pre amp signals analog to the amp
L7 = Fiber optic cable beteen the amp and head unit
and the rest of the modules on the most bus.

Thanks ctuna. I'm gonna have to check it out. I figured with all replacement parts numbers matching it would be a simple swap. It's just an average HiFi with sat audio.

I'm considering changing amps in the near future to JL Audio 800/8 and bridging last 2 channels for a sub in the trunk and changing all component speakers to either focal or morel. Just haven't bit the bullet on it yet.

I have a place near me that can code everything, I might as well have them take a look at it when I install new FRM.

Some of the newer cars require and icom cable

Some of the newer cars require and icom cable
to program the radio . Best speaker combination excluding
the sub would be Jehnert under seats and Morel doors.
You might want to talk to 6spdcoupe about components.
Unfortunately nothing is simple with newer cars that are
electronic.
Surest way to get it programmed correctly is Bimmertech.
