Hifi Technic ms8 harness issues

I'm trying to do a jbl ms8 install in my e90 hifi and for some reason my amp gets no power when connected with the technic harness. Does the harness have any common failure points? Any advice on frankensteining this to make it work? I'm thinking of routing the power directly from the battery. Any advice on wiring and gauge?

Your advice is greatly appreciated

You are suppose to run power on seperate wires.

You are suppose to run power on separate wires.
That are not part of the Harness!
He sells a power kit to.
His harnesses are only for signal wires.

Its a normal procedure to run amps and accessorizes next
to the amp of
large diameter power wires that go to the battery and/or
a local ground in the case of ground.(power kit)

I would email him(at his new webstie technicpnp) if you have any problems beyond the power wires. The harness is just wires it should be easy to trace out where things go and he labels everything to I believe.

Yeah normally I would agree but on his ms8 harness it has wiring for remote, ground and power already included since the ms8 is a lower power unit.

I figured out the fault in terms of power thus far. There was a faulty power lead in the harness so I supplied my own from the battery (with fuse)

Lets hope the rest goes smoothly

If its a Hi Fi harness Technic repurposes the Hot Line

If its a Hi Fi harness Technic re purposes the Hot Line
to a relay that turns the unit off and on I believe.
The 12 volt line is switched from the basic BMW Harness.
If you bypass it you may end up with your unit powered
up all the time draining the battery .
As far as I know there is not special ms-8 harness
none listed on his site and he never talked about one.

Hmmm... well its been wired up and working well. Oddly enough his ground and remote wire work as intended so all is well. Amp turns on and off as expected.

On another note, i have yet to add the centre channel to the car. Would you happen to know the part number for the pins to add to the factory harness?

All your wisdom is greatly appreciated ctuna!

I think they are on his website.

I think they are on his website.
Don't know if the ms-8 has signal sensing turn on and off
but that would actually work.

Excellent.. while tuning this thing only time it gives clean sound is at -10db which seems somewhat high.

I am running this with bavsound speakers and oem subs.

Will I risk damaging anything? If I run any lower volume on the amp it clips.
