Would someone explain what tuning files are for an amp?
I want to install the JL Audio 600/6 amp b/c I'm starting with the 676. Hi-Fi setup and need a simple plug and play for my first foray into car audio. Starting easy and then moving up to speakers etc. I know I need to buy a harness but from who\where? Then if I buy the plain Jane amp w/o any preset tune can you guys help me tune it? There must be tune sheets available for individual preferences; however, one retailer told me we tune the amp based on the the car. So I'm confused. Btw, I've seen prices for this amp vary tremendously. From $500-$1000 the bottom end no harness or tune.
If it makes a difference the car is a 2011 328ix with 6VC,639,655 and 676 options. |

An amp like the the Jl 600/6 only has
An amp like the the Jl 600/6 only has crossover and gain settings.
And how you set them up depends on how and which speakers you wire the channels to . In a Hi Fi 676 system its typical to route two channel pairs to each location . Two channel pairs to doors front and back and one to floors. (two one to left and one to right)The typical setting is something like 180 hz low passed to the underseats and around 200 high passed to the doors . These values can vary a little bit according to taste and which aftermarket speakers you get. Additionaly you set the gain for each channel pair. If you are running the stock speakers you can't have any gain on the doors and a little gain on floors. Tuning files only apply to DSP devices or combo DSP/amps. You want the Technic Hi Fi harness from Technicpnp.com and maybe there power kit. You should be able to get the Jl 600/6 for under 500 I believe. Last edited by ctuna; 09-07-2016 at 03:22 PM.. |
