X5 35d: SCR Active Tank (Reservoir) limited warranty - Sl B01 23 16

This is a cross post from bimmerfest - E70 Section. I know most on here are E90 owners, but there are a few X5 owners as well, such as myself.

Good info.

Quote:
the SCR Active Tank (Reservoir) limited warranty for defects in materials or workmanship has been extended to 10 year/120,000 mile as determined from
the original in-service date. This coverage is subject to the same vehicle eligibility requirements, limitations, and exclusions that apply to the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warrant for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks. Please see Sl B01 23 16.

I don't have a copy of the SIB.

Please extend this to the E90. I would be so happy to have this peace of mind. Currently in the process of finding a good extended warranty in case CBU happens. I was planning on getting it through the dealer I got the car from but they never even offered me a warranty, so their loss. Any reccomendations?

how in the heck could this only be for E70s? They have to extend this to E90s if theyre admitting an issue with the E70s...

No warranty is going to cover CBU, in fact, most explicitly state they will not cover carbon build-up.

I had my E90 warranty from CarChex...they paid out ~$3200 when I needed new injectors. You're best bet is the alphabet delete.

I would be inclined to agree. Maybe its coming down the pipe? We'll see...

Well, the E70 DEF tanks are in different places, and are differently shaped/sized. But I agree, our tanks should be covered, too.
