Vacuum lines

Looking for a good source to buy new vacuum lines, was wondering if there is a retailer that is known that people here have used before. Links would be appreciated!

Andrew, in another thread you were talking about the fact that the car in the Velocity bit got the vacuum lines changed later with your "kit"...is this said kit? Just a roll of bulk? thats fine if it is....just curious.

And its cool if its OEM, but Im wondering if that thick silicone stuff is actually an upgrade to the OEM. Does anyone else have a take on that question?

For the 335D I don't really have a "kit" like I do for the VWs which use multiple sizes. I just sell a 5m roll for the 335d and X5, it's all you really need.

I personally don't trust the silicone stuff, I don't think it avoids abrasions as well as the cloth stuff and I've seen it collapse under high heat, meaning vacuum can't get through it.

I have used these:

But they are more expensive than OEM ones from Andrew.

I just bought it from Andrew@FixMyVW I guess the quality should be good. Looking forward to get them soon and replace the existing lines...

Thanks for the link, I saw this on your site previously but I didn't know if there was any advantages/ upgrades over changing to silicone.

I thought the OEMs are 3.5mm. What is the reason to go to 3mm ID?

I have a thread floating here from months back when I did mine. I used silicone line from amazon. if you find my.post I believe I have the brand listed as well. the wall of the like is much thicker than of the oem. I'd say at least twice as thick. I in no was see it collapsing on itself. now, probably ~50,000 miles later no issues or signs of wear whatsoever from touching hot components etc. Of these ~50,000 mi. several Vegas trips, new Mexico trips, yosemite trip, and San Diego trips. only downfall of the thickness was the engine cover, had to pay a little attention when reapplying it but definitely no need to worry or be discouraged. if you can't find the post let me know. it has photos comparing the oem with the new stuff.

I'll get a digital caliper out soon and check the old stock lines v.s. my lines, it could be something as simple as a typo from our distributor. Just by looking at it, you don't see a difference, it's cloth covered from the OE manufacture. I'll try to split millimeters later

Did you have a chance to split some millimeters yet?

3.5mm silicon is what everyone has been using, including in europe where there are more older 335ds, without issue. Realoem.com lists them as 3.5mm

I have about 40,000 miles on silicone vacuum lines. No issues to report.
