anyone put back swirl flaps back ?

so as i mentioned before, i was told swirl flaps are leaking and they were blanked to which I wasn't convinced reading that users experienced power loss and fuel increase, and i can attest those.

now, i want to put swirl flaps back, but as i am reading, i will have to buy new manifold intake?

anyone has done this?

What do you base your power loss on?

My swirl flaps just failed, in the last 2 months of warranty. I was told that I had to get a whole new intake manifold as this was an integral part. I did notice power loss and fuel efficiency loss about 2 days before i got a CEL. If you watch the MPG gauge it should be pegged at the low end most of the time, even under light acceleration when it would normally be in the 20-30mpg range. Good luck. My SA told me it would have been $1500-1800 without warranty.

I guess Im going thru this crap now, I bought the AArodriguez EGR Race pipe and the Swirlflap covers from him, I will find out this weekend WTF is actually happening to my car. My mechanic got under the car and heard no leaks. Im getting MISERABLE mileage and power, went to a different dyno Sunday and LOST 100 ponies, SOMETHING is wrong i could feel it and BAM the dyno did not lie.

If they're properly coded out I don't see why it would cause power loss or mpg loss. Obviously if they are faulty and/or you remove them without properly coding them out then the car isn't going to run right.

PR, you need to specifically ask tuner if flaps were tuned to be open at all times. This isn't necessarily part of the "full deletes" as a default.

If you're down 100hp on the dyno, the swirl flaps aren't your problem.

Sounds remotely similar to what Johnnybravo and Andrew went through and narrowed it down to injectors which felt like no low end boost, even though there was no code present. I'm only guessing and hoping that is not the case for you!

I just added a bottle of SEA FOAM in my car went for 5 mile spin, I concur with you dmanb2b it might of been injectors clogged, car is running way better cause as i step on it my traction control now comes on before that it wasn't doing that. Gracias

I'd say INJECTORS. My injectors were my issue and there wasn't 1 trouble code that ISTA could find. It sucks there 400 each and a pain to get out. But it woke the car like it's new.

What plugs are you replacing? Glow-plugs aren't going to affect running after start-up.

PR, we have a couple threads going here sort of in parallel. Did you say you were getting the carbon cleaning while intake is off for swirl flap blanks? If so, can you get pictures of the ports please? Thanks
