M1 5W-40 Diesel Truck?
I am not worried about running low ash oil and was going to use Rotella T6 5W-40 for my next scheduled OCI.
Has anyone here run Mobil 1 version? Found it at walmart for what seems to be a really reasonable price. Welcome your feedback or oil analysis, if it exists. Thanks https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mobil-1-5...4mMwsEnXQz0fng |

Thanks folks...to Cuda's point, I was all set to go Rotella, until I realized price after rebate is still more expensive than M1. Just did not know if there we any issues with M1...seems like a pretty solid choice.

After posting above, I see that Home Depot has it for the old Walmart price of $21.97 per gallon. You are only allowed so many rebates per home address though. I already got $10 for 2 gallons so I'm done unless I get a family member to do it or me. Not sure when rebate ends anyway. Regardless, even without rebate, its way better deal that buying the LL04 oil. I agree with poster that Mobil 1 would be fine too.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Rotella-T...A0II/102646780 I will try to get Rotella from HD, per Cuda's post. Seems like it is tried and trued on our motors. FWIW Cuda, you are limited to 4 rebates per person, so thinking you are still good for 2 more gallons http://rotella.shell.com/coupons-reb...er-gallon.html |

http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pro...l?cm_vc=-10005 Mobil 1 is fine oil. I ran amsoil diesel oil, Mobil 1 diesel oil and rotella T6 in my old excursion. They're all fantastic oils, but after a few blackstone analysis per brand, I only run T6. Best of luck on your quest. Last edited by 335dsleeper; 11-15-2016 at 05:17 PM.. |

New here, so it looks like most folks don't use the official BMW oil. Is that correct?
I am a big fan of Shell's Rotella's line of oil and actually use it in my 1966 Honda S90. Do you see Shell or Mobile1 as a better alternative to BMW oil or just a cheaper one? |

Rotella is the top choice among those of us with ABC deletes. However my layman's understanding is that if you still have the DPF you need a low ash oil which points to keeping with the BMW dealer oil.

While this is the opinion here on the board, I ran Rotella T6 in my 35d for just under 80k miles with the DPF and all emissions in place.
