Upgrading Steering Wheel

I currently have a Sport steering wheel with paddle shifters and found a M-Sport wheel for sale that doesnt have them. Can I adapt the new steering wheel to fit my current paddles? I looked on the back and I see cutouts and the paddles kind of attach like wings would. I dont know how much of my old steering wheel can be used with the new M-sport. I tried to find this out but kept running into people adding after market paddle shifters to cars with out them to start, and thats not my concern. Thanks!

Old can't be used with the new, you replace the whole wheel, sans the airbag and front decorative cover. There was a tread somewhere where one person did the cutouts themselves for the paddles. The mounting point in in there even for the ones that do not have paddle cutouts. The question is, how good are you with cutting instruments and how comfortable are you doing it. Easier to find a wheel with cut-outs. Or you can re-wrap your original.

Decided not to go with that steering wheel, it was not a good match in a few ways. I did however find something that should fit, I will post pics if it does.

So this happened today....

Plug and Play as it turns out! I was worried that the paddles wouldn't work, but now left down shifts when clicked towards the driver and right upshifts when clicked towards the driver as well. Both paddles are one way (only click towards).

Same diameter wheel as our sports, a little thicker, and just pretty to look at.

I did not have paddles from the factory, but wiring was quite easy.

Nice upgrade! Although no heat is a deal breaker for me.

Maybe a silly question but I can't find much on it... or I don't know what to search for....

Could I use a sport wheel with a non sport horn??? It looks like it will work???

Nope. Sport steering wheel needs a sport airbag.

Someone from Momo was interviewed on Carcast recently. The interviewer commented that steering wheels are going the opposite direction from women -- i.e., steering wheels are getting thicker and furrier.

Can you post the details about where you sourced your wheel?

Haha about the woman comment. Also, sourced the wheel from www.car-part.com it was in a totalled 2009 m3 convertible from Texas.
