Question on tires

I'm curious to know what rubber people are using on these cars.

I still have plenty of tread left on the Michelin Pilot Sports, but have never been a big fan of them. Mainly because they always appear to be way over priced, but never far enough ahead in reviews to justify. The last M car I had Goodyear Eagle F1's Asymetics and felt they worked great.

I also need to look at getting the wheels refurbed, any recommendations?

I used the m approved pirrellis p zeros and thought they were spot on. I got 750 all round. Don't use non m approved as they aren't as good although cheaper.

It's my DD so right now she's wearing winter tires (Pirelli Sottozero 3) but I can't wait to get back to the P zeros. They're better than the Michelin ones, imho. Got the zeros for around 900 all together but that was a private sale.

All the star means is that it's an approved OEM tire. There is no difference between the star and non star. It's been discussed quite a bit.

I do agree that the PZeros are awesome tires and seem to last longer than the PSS

Pick up a set of 265/35/20 and 305/30/20 Pirelli PZero. They have to be 99Y, they fit beautifully on the OEM 343Ms and you get that added grip. Quite a few of us running that setup. No bulging whatsoever

On my ZL1 I ran Continental Sport Contact A/S and those were awesome tires. I was pushing 650ish whp and they gripped well.

I have a slightly different view. My previous M5 had the Michelin Super Sport tire and I loved them and they had lots of grip and wore well.

My latest M5 has the Pirelli P Zero and the car has only done 5k miles, so I can't comment on wear, but they definitely don't have as much traction as the Michelin.

P zero's dont cope once you push up the power, best tyres ive used so far after running alot of experiments are 305 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's, you need a bit of heat in them, but there amazing !!

Thanks everyone. Looks like I'll have to see what happens when the dryer weather returns to the UK.

I was thinking about trying these out; Vredestein Ultrac Vorti. I had a set on my RS6 and found them to be very good.
