Rear parking sensor on/off switch installed

If anyone else has the dct model and hates the reversing sensors staying on unless the car is fully shutdown, this fix works.. Previously posted by another member but for left hand drive model. I'm confirming it works for right hand drive and it was worth every penny - £30 I paid.

For right hand drive, Order part number : 9252921 and for LHD 9252912.

Pull out the old one, plug in the new one, swap the switch - very easy, just unclip the top cover 3 clips either side then lift off. Pop out the rocker switch and push in the original rocker switch with comfort/sport, put the new top cover back on and push in the unit, job done.

And for the observant, I hadn't fully pushed it home to finish the job but it fits like a glove.

Hm, wasn't aware behavior was different between 6MT and DCT, interesting.

How long did the whole process take?

I think the manual is fine, it goes off in neutral.the DCT is a pain in the ass. It took me about 15min, really easy just be careful getting the unit and rocker switch out.

Judging from your post it should just work without coding, correct?

Should be the same for both from my understanding.

What did you use to remove it, a spudger tool?

No coding at all, just plug and play.

I used an old credit card and a thin plastic scraper. A plastic ruler or something wold work, just prose it from a corner then slip the credit card under and start working around the unit.

Excellent work!

Does a version of this switch panel exist with the reverse camera button like the M3/M4 has?

When you press the button it brings up the camera and press it again and everything is shut off

When you press the button the reverse sensor comes on you need to use the iDrive to select the camera. I believe the button you're talking about is the top view which our cars don't have, yet.

I first removed the shifter surround and pushed the operating unit up with my fingers

Il check tomorrow but I'm sure it was on, but maybe I had left it in that mode trying to switch it off when I parked it in the garage.

I have a 6MT..... -pulled my car out of the garage today, Reverse then neutral and it was idling for a while in neutral.

Walked behind the car and the beeping went apeshit! So this may be beneficial for 6MT also!

Never noticed this before!!! Maybe the 6MT needs to go from reverse to first in order to reset the reversing sensor? Which is what I usually do.

Today was a warm day and I pulled car out of garage and her let her idle to warm up. Needed to inflate the tires to 45 psiand place them on rubber pads.

Car is now tucked away for the winter

Manual transmission needs to not only be in first gear but must roll forward for the beeping to stop. Very annoying

Negative. They continue to beep even when in neutral. Very annoying indeed.

Confirmed. I always back into my garage, and I have to move forward at least 5 feet or so before the sensors stop beeping. I may have to try this!

Awesome mate, i reverse park into my garage and the constant beeping is annoying, will definitely look into this.

Is the part # originally for a standard 2 series?

Wow, thanks. I shall be doing this after only one week of ownership.

I had a bicycle rack on the back of my car and his issue is huge when the object is at zero on the display. A constant beeeeeeeeeep until you move.

This is indeed a great mod but important to note it does NOT work on RHD cars that don't have the back up camera installed.
I tried tirelessly but there's something needed from the wiring of the back up camera to make the on/off sensor button work on the new control unit. Had to put mine back to stock and resell the control unit I'd purchased.
