Exclamation PROcede v3 boost control on 6AT *Video* and *datalog*

Hi guys,
I spent the last couple of days testing v3 on a 6AT car. I'm really happy with the full throttle performance. But we've also spent a lot of time getting partial throttle performance to be spot on. That is, after all, where we drive 95% of the time.

Here's a video of the car accelerating at ~70% throttle (9-10psi) while upshifting a couple of times. Even the upshift, boost doesn't fluctuate more than 1/2psi or so. And I suspect most of that has to do with my inability to keep my foot perfectly steady on the gas pedal:

Here's another video at ~50% throttle (~5psi) doing the same thing:

I also did a datalog of an identical run:

Despite the steady, flat boost readings from the intake manifold (what the engine really sees and what the boost gauge reads), notice how there are boost spikes read by the T-MAP sensor in the intercooler pipe (where the PROcede reads boost). This is a good example of how TMAP datalogs can be misleading when it comes to boost readings. When the throttle partially closes (for the upshift), boost in the manifold DROPs while boost in the intercooler pipe GOES UP. The neat thing the PROcede is doing is taking all this into consideration so that the actual manifold pressure (what the engine sees and what you feel) remains very constant and stable.

Just thought some may find this interesting. More to come...

Cheers,
shiv

Wow i have never seen a turbo car that was able do that... and I have had 10, that solid control can definitely explain my better gas mileage and feeling of smoothness. Thanks also for explaining why the manifold and ic system see different boost as well.

Shiv - just out of curiosity, are you holding the camera with your left hand or is it strapped to your head ... ?

Shiv,

Any luck getting the water pump to work harder? I have seen many cars on Dinan and JB2HR run lower oil temps due to this. It would be awesome if that can happen.

Flipping the R switch on my JBX drops the nominal oil temps by about 20 degrees... Are you saying it's not reading the temps accurately or are you saying that it only increases the water pump flow at normal driving conditions and wouldn't make the car work any better when it's actually driven hard (ie on a track)

Flipping the "R switch" shorts the intake temp sensor to ground. This makes the ECU think it is seeing obscenely high intake temps. It could very well react by increasing water pump flow at low load (when its not needed). But at higher loads, the water pump is already at full tilt. Can't turn it up to 11

Shiv,

Is the boost control on v3 achieved without bypassing the solenoid?

why DO you read boost at the MAP in the IC pipe vs. the MAP in the manifold?

The pressure sensor in the intake manifold only reads to about 2 - 3 PSI positive pressure. It is mainly for vacuum measurements.
