Toyo R888r's
Hey Guys,
Anyone running R888's or R888R's? If so whats your experience with them in autocross, and for street use? Just ordered some R888R's in 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 Curious what you guys think about these tires |

R888R is the updated version of the R888 I believe.
It's an R-compound tire and from what I understand, pretty damn loud, especially on the freeway. They will not do well in inclement temperature nor will they have lots of grip without warming up. I wouldn't recommend them for a DD but lots of people I've spoken to at DE events like them on the track (and they're fine for driving to + from the track). I would suspect they're more of a road course tire instead of an autox tire, since autox needs a tire that heats up fast versus road course where you want heat to come in but over a period of time so your tires last an entire session. But I have no experience with autox on R888s. |

I ran r888rs for the first time last weekend at Road Atlanta. I was very pleased with them. It was my first weekend there, so I was not really pushing them, but they felt great the entire time. You do have to watch the pressure. I know they prefer a higher pressure, so I started at 32 cold. But they got up to like 46-7 hot and that was not good. Run them 37-38 hot and they will be great.
edit- probably wouldn't run them in autox or as a DD tire. |
