I've had a couple people ask me for videos to see how my BPC tuned car compares to other cars such as Mustangs and the like...below are a few more recent videos for reference.
Camera car is a single turbo conversion N54 335i running MHD and E40 blend 335i starts in the wrong gear 335i misses a gear.... 335d vs. '16 Coyote 5.0 w/ 100 shot, Long Tube headers. This is the beginning of the run, didn't get the end - I pulled 3-4 cars on him. |

On public roads with other drivers around ... it would be a lot safer to the non-racers on the road to take that to the dragstrip.
Having had several friends/family members have near accidents recently due to motorcycles racing on public roads, I'd suggest this isn't the safest way to test your cars performance. If you get some video on a track, I'd be happy to send some appreciation points your way.

Disclaimer:
1. All videos filmed in Mexico after 2 AM 2. Every 1/4 mile track is a 2 hour trip (one way) 3. I am not really wanting to launch this car every weekend because 3,900 lbs + 680 wtq + launch = something will break. |

Nothing's going to break until you're in the 1.50-1.60 60ft range.
I don't think your wheel torque from a standing start is going to be as high as it is on a dyno in 4th gear. You'll be fine at the track. You can always walk her out slowly if you're concerned about breaking something. You'll have a much better chance of walking away from an accident. The def tank weighs hardly anything. Maybe 20lbs.
What interior? The only thing that has any weight is the passenger seat. Everything else is plastic. The back seats don't weigh anything. You might get 125-150lbs if you remove the passenger seat, rear seats, seat belts, door cards etc. Just seems like a huge waste of time. Best of luck though, please post pics of your weight reduction. |

The DEF tank is empty - still in place.
Fuel tank will be 1/2 full. Meth tank will have 1 gallon. The passenger seat for sure is coming out - and the bench part of the back seat. Any weight savings is a plus....weight is the enemy of speed. |

I hope you take and post pictures of your weight loss adventure.
Not sure how the car will respond with the passenger seat removed. When I unplugged my ABS module, the wipers turned on and wouldn't turn off. It'll be interesting to see how the car handles the seat being unplugged. Last edited by 335dsleeper; 05-17-2017 at 11:36 AM.. |

I did a quick search and found a weight reduction list for the 335i's. Here are a few items and their corresponding weight. Not sure if you have sport seats either, I think the non-sport are a tad bit heavier.
Rear Seat- Back: 40lbs Rear Seat- Bottom- 14lbs Battery Cover (With Tools): 3.1 lbs Trunk Lining (both sides) plus rear plastic piece- 5.2lbs Interior Trim Pieces- B Pillar and door flooring- 3.8 lbs Easily Removable Seat Belt Pieces- 6.8 lbs Front Sport Seats- 65 lbs each Trunk Insert- 1.5lbs This adds up to roughly 143lbs. To do it right, it'll take no less than 3hrs. Just seems like a lot of work especially for a track event. If you only pull the rear bench portion you're down to roughly 100lbs worth of reduction. Hardly seems worth it. But again, please post pictures and any lessons learned regarding the passenger seat etc. Are you running Saturday or Sunday? Not at all. I've been doing various track events for the past 17 years. No matter what I do, I always find myself doing last minute maintenance or repairs to the truck, trailer or the car itself and almost always run out of time. I've learned to avoid unnecessary work, especially something that requires additional work after the event.
To me, 150-200lbs reduction in a daily driver just isn't worth it the work. Then you have to put all of it back together and it ultimately skews the car's real life performance data. I just don't see the point. |

Is your speed limiter coded out? A healthy stage 3 car should easily break 155, right. Mine is coded out but I have never verified.
