Pipercross air filter

Does anyone have first hand experience with a pipercross air filters on 335d. Before anyone asks I did search around and couldn't get much feedback. Just wanting to know if anyone's had anything like that fitted.. I know it won't help with the performance but I'm just looking for a better noise. A friend of mines has a 320d with a BMC air filter, it did make a nice sound although I'm not wanting to fit one of those or a K&N because they are oiled air filters if I'm.correct in saying and I don't want to mess up the new maf sensor I've just bought. Any input would be good to hear.

I also want to see what people have to say about this. As far as drop in panel filter upgrades go, it's pretty much K&N or Pipercross, and I'd prefer not to put an oily K&N in there.

Panel filter? Won't make any sound difference with the oem box and feeds.

Cut a hole in the box if you want noise.

Like I said a friend had a BMC panel filter in his 320d. When standing at the front of the car with the bonnet closed with a slight rev there was a definite difference in noise compared to the usual MANN filters typically used.

I won't be cutting a hole in my air box.

Yep I won't be putting an oily filter in either too much to risk with the price of MAF sensors.

I've taken the plunge and ordered a pipercross panel filter off eBay. I will let you know if there's much difference if any with the noise.

Sounds good I will be buying the Cold Air Intake designed by iaknown and sold by him at ATM Speedshop. I just have to wait uintil they're back in stock (couple of months) and thought about dropping in a filter in the meantime.

Did it make any difference to the induction noise? How has it held up in comparison to the typical MANN filters?

I didn't see difference in sound, but with the tune I had it smoked like a freight train with factory filter.
With the high flow filter it cut a lot of the smoke down.

You're right, it didn't make a difference with the sound. I don't fancy cutting my air box or anything though.

Got the panel filter and fitted it. It's alot thinner than the MANN filter. Drops in really easy. It's a supposed lifetime filter. I'll clean it every time I service the car.

I haven't driven the car enough to see if the smoke has calmed down but I will report back when I get a chance to floor it.
