Universal garage-door opener for M2

Has anybody recently tried to retrofit an Universal garage-door opener mirror onto an M2?

I think I found the part number (51166821262) in the interior category on realoem.com but I don't know if you need some extra cables or how to do it.

I found this part number by selecting an US spec M2, it's not in the list for Europe.

Anybody any links or resources that can help me?

Ok so let me preface this with a huge caveat: I have not (and neither have my guys) done this and cannot confirm the accuracy of this information.

HOWEVER

After talking to them, it is their understanding that all wiring would be there for it. You would need to swap in the new mirror and do some coding to get it to recognize the new unit. Just what type of coding and how complex was not something they knew.

Homelink openers typically don't require anything more than just power, unless they do something funky like put the antenna/transmitter elsewhere on the car (my TT puts it in the front bumper).

On many cars it's literally just a power circuit and nothing else though.

I tried this in my Nissan 350Z. One thing I learnt, because the Homelink mirror didn't work, was the frequency of the garage opener being used. The standard around the world (Europe, Australia - where I'm from) is 433Mhz.

The standard for the US, where my Homelink mirror was made, is usually 315Mhz.

If your dealer can confirm that it works on the 433mhz frequency please let me know. It'll be my next mod!!
