CBU cleaning - how to attach the remote switch to the starter

hi all,
before I start with the blasting, I wanted to learn the proper way of hooking up the remote switch to the starter.
I have tried a couple of ways but one of them did not work, and the other makes a click sound suggesting the solenoid is engaging, but doesnt actually turn the engine.

can someone please chime in and explain how to hook up the remote switch, as well as how many seconds to keep the engine turning to switch from one cylinder to the next?
if, as a bonus, you could add in the order of cylinders that the valves close, that would be awesome.

thanks a lot for the help

Or you can just crank it mechanically. As long as you turn it in the direction of rotation. There is a special BMW tool that attaches to the crank or you can do it by one of the crank bolts while watching not to overtighten them.

You need to connect the battery supply cable to the solenoid switch to engage the starter.

I found a video that should give you an idea of locations for each.

you are a lifesaver... I swear I almost gave up on cleaning the valves.

that worked, and I forgot to tell you I did not have the long connection from the starter to the battery terminal back on, and it did not work with that unhooked, so once I put the starter connection back to its post on the passenger side strut mount, and hooked up the cables like in your video, it worked perfectly, almost too fast

engine turns over super easy using the crank bolts and it would seem that method is much easier to control how far you turn it
