Coolant leak around the thermostat/egr
Hi
I seem to have a small coolant leak around the egr/thermostat area. It's not big enough to give any abnormal coolant loss, I'm topping up about 0.5-1 litre every 4000 miles. On the rectangular stainless box, which I'm guessing is the egr unit, there's a small build up of what looks like corroded water. Then there's a few splashes of the liquid on the fan behind the intercooler. Has anyone had any issues similar? |

is the thermostat near the EGR cooler or under the intake??
I figure I will change mine as my fuel economy has gone down and I just started getting a random ses for glow plug #5 controller (I am going to change that also) |

Kinda underneath/behind the EGR cooler. If you look at the Commonly Asked Q&A thread, there is a DIY thread. Inside that DIY thread is thermostat.

Glad to hear you pin pointed your leak. Just for your information, those of us with North American cars don't have an EGR cooler thermostat. We only have the engine coolant one.
