X3 M40i Versus Competitors
I currently own Range Rover Sport 2009 for daily use and F80 M3 for weekend and fun.
I'm done with fixing the Range Rover over and over again so it's time to move on. Looking at mid size SUV there are many options to choose from now than 10 years ago but what made you choose BMW X3 over the competitors? Audi SQ5, Mercedes AMG GLC43, Range Rover Velar, Jaguar F Pace, Volvo XC60 (really nice car but the backend looks like my grandpa Volvo) and I'm sure I missed few competitors. I know Range Rover is giving me hard time but I really love their cars. The driving experience in Range Rover that I experienced in last 9 years made consider Velar. Do you guys think Land Rover made their car more reliable? Your thoughts are appreciated. |

I think the Velar is overpriced for what it is and that dual screen set up is bound to cause a few accidents. I also do not trust their reliability track record.

driveability and feel of the car, the infotainment system is one of the best if not the best out there, sportiness, never boring specially the M40 version, will always put a smile on your face. I love the Range Rover looks however it's in a different category than the X3's not sure about their reliability however the same could go for BMW, not as bad I guess, I had no issues in my F15, F25, or F30.
Again you're in a BMW Forum, I'm sure the Audi Forum will tell you they're the best thing ever, one thing though is that Audi's are better priced, my 2 cents. |

considered the Velar, i think the Novelty will end quickly, for me BMW cars age better, nice handling and idrive is the best in the business. JLR reliability is still the same.

Since the Velar shares the same platform with the Jaguar F-Pace, you shouldn't have too much expectation of reliability. "You can never break a Toyota and never fix a Land Rover."

Probably not as much of an issue in the US, but in Canada where fuel is now taxed at four levels ( excise tax, Federal sales tax, Provincial sales tax and carbon tax) fuel economy means a bit. The published numbers for the M40i are better than for Audi and MB. I did not look at Porsche ( across the city in a sketchy neighbourhood) or Jaguar (again too far away).
I know that published figures are not real world ones. But my 335 GT gets amazing real world mileage (7.8l per 100 km or 30 mpg US). (EPA says 30 Highway and 20 City). |
