My first F80 purchased in 2014 was a 6MT in Silverstone with a matching painted roof. It was my first expensive car. I loved it, became obsessed this forum, F80 piggyback offerings, and F80 mods. I even got a sticky for the piggyback table

I was never that excited with the piggybacks I tried and I felt the car lacked a bit of power as I came from a heavily modified (not by me) CTS-V 6MT wagon.

Fast forward some years..and a few (too many) really great barely used cars later (6MT hellcat, 8-sp CTS-V(3), 6MT Focus RS, 10-sp ZL1, 8-sp X5 50i)...and I'm back. The F80 is not fast as some, but better handling than most, and just a clean well-engineered specimen. And now it has the competition package with beautiful wheels. And what's this I see, you can now write your ECU directly from ODBII - wow.

So today, after many weeks of tire kicking, test driving, negotiating, and internet reading (vs. Guilia QV, ATS-V, C-63), I picked up a 2018 competition package F80 in mineral white with a DCT off the lot. Yes, a DCT. Sakhir orange (full) leather, executive pkg, silver 20" wheels, carbon fiber spoiler, wireless charging, wheel locks, M performance mats (meh). White is easy to maintain and classy, but yes it is a bit boring. The red interior is fun. The full leather really takes it up a notch but probably is not really worth the cost. I absolutely love the silver CP wheels on white. And yes, it has a steel driveshaft. ***EDIT I was told it has one - not yet verified***

I opted for immediate 3M 20% window tint ($230) and 3M clear bra application (front, 1/2 hood, fenders, mirrors $550) prior to pickup.

So, the next chapter begins. I can't wait to explore the CP and DCT!

That would be the first car I heard of having steel drive shaft, very interesting!
What’s the production date?

Congrats on the new M3!—I think the red interior suits Mineral White quite well (and MW is far from boring!).

The competition package wheels really set the F80 off nicely. Love it! Let me know if we can help you get started on that modding part

It was built in late November. I was *told* by the dealer it has one. I haven't yet crawled under to verify. I will check later today...sorry for the confusion if it is not!

All this anticipation to see the steel drive shaft and you're probably just gonna disappoint us with a regular old carbon one.
