Best EQ settings for Trance/Dance

Basically electronic type music. Thanks. A lot of bass and crisp high notes would be nice.

Alright, well here it goes...

This is an updated post for the E92 LOGIC7 WITH OR WITHOUT IDRIVE settings. I will meet up with someone this week to do the E90 vehicles and post those settings up too now that I am not too busy for a while.

Ok guys, as mentioned before, I am sorry for taking so long with there, but I feel that I have reached what I feel is ideal and optimal. I still don't think that these stereo's are the pinnacle of automotive stereo's in OEM form, but it is still nonetheless great and the imaging is good for a factory car, especially the centralized bass focus.

Here are the settings and WHY:

80hz -1
200hz -3
500hz +3
1khz +4
2khz -4
5khz -3
10khz +2

BASS +2 (personal liking, continue reading to see why)
TREB 0
FADER +1
S-VOL 1
Aux-In Level 3 (center position)
For those who have the IPOD adapter as well.. make sure the IPOD internal EQ is turned off!

LOGIC 7 COMPLETELY OFF!!!

How did I achieve these settings... Lets just say it took alot of time in the car, different types of music, remapping of the EQ and Logic7 settings with different test tones and so on.... One flaw I had before was the Denon home theatre imaging mic. The mic was not designed for such a confined environment such as a car. Automobiles exhibit tons of cancellation and this mic was the flaw in the previous test and settings provided, hence the reason some people with certain genre's of music felt their music to be on the sharp side (not ideal by any means!)

LOGIC7 surround settings are a major problem. I am sure most around here have complained about how the rear speakers sound like they cut in and out with different types of music? Well this is the result of turning the Logic7 on in either MUSIC or CINEMA mode (non I-Drive cars). It is attempting to balance the music to what it "thinks" is ideal. IMO, it sounds like pure garbage like that and even the least critical audio listener will notice it and be bothered. If you are utilizing the IPOD interface, it is even worse! Why you may ask.. some of your MP3's might be encoded in VARIABLE BIT RATE FORM. This type of encoding even further amplifies this unwanted effect.

So what did I do? I simply turned logic7 OFF, and I did my best to find a way to get that expanded sound experience that a surround system can provide, but with the LOGIC7 off. Afterall, the imaging of the driver's are in pretty good locations and it should be possible.. Well, it sure was!!!

I am not sure what types of music ya'll listen to, but I listen to everything! Here is a small list of what I listen to on a day to day basis and these settings will satisfy generally all these types of music.

Amy Grant, Armand Van Helden, Baby Bash, Sean Kingston, Benyamin S., Big Gemini, Bob Sinclar, Breaking Benjamin, Chic, Chingy, Colby O'Donis, D12, David Guetta, The Dazz Band, De Barge, Dire Straits, Duran Duran, Enrique Iglesias, Enur, Eric Clapton, CREAM, Evanescence, Fat Joe, Timbaland, Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, Franky Ti-Aya, Jellybean, Johnny Budz, Kanye West, Keisha Cole, Led Zeppelin, Linkin Park, Londonbeat, Mariah Carey, Milk & Honey, Milky, Missy Elliot, New Order, Orgy, Nickleback, Nickfurrie, POD, Pat Matheny Group, Paul Van Dyk, Pet Shop Boys, Paul Oakenfold, Pink Floyd, Pitbull, Lil John, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rihanna, Roc Project, Safri Duo, Santana, Shapeshifters, Tech 9, Weezer, Yves Larock, 30 Seconds To Mars, 2pac, 50 Cent, The Game.... thats just a small portion of what I listened to and tested and adjusted these settings with after obtaining a decent flat frequency baseline.

Now... onto the TREBLE, BASS and FADER settings... One of my goals was to find the best settings possible on the EQ while leaving the BASS and TREBLE FLAT. Why did I do this? Because I wanted to be able to adjust these two parameters if needed without having to mess with the whole EQ. Before... if the BASS and TREBLE were adjusted, it would throw off the entire EQ curve and I would have to re-adjust those settings as well.

I listen to my music pretty loud at times, so I left my TREB and BASS flat. For those of you who don't listen to your music loud, or may prefer a little bit of bias in either of those parameters, feel free to adjust them to your liking, BUT USE THE ABOVE EQ SETTINGS!!

I hope this helps you guys out, and I will do the E90 Logic7 next and the Idrive cars... BUT... all you E92 folks with IDRIVE can use these settings now because I highly RECOMMEND you turn off LOGIC7 anyway

PS: These are the MOST UPDATED SETTINGS SINCE MY LAST POST. IMO everyone should follow these settings!!! I cannot stress enough how ideal these settings are for the majority of genre's of music. Classical, Hip-hop, R&B, dance, trance, rock..
