Audio out question

Looking for a way to route the GPS sound (Voice and Bluetooth calls) through the car speakers. Anyone know if this can be done with an Aux cord?

For example, I am using the Aux cord now to play my iPOD through the speakers. Can I do the same thing with the GPS? Unit is Magellan Maestro 4250

Hi there, yes I've done it with the TomTom GO520.
It has a bluethooth receiver to accept and manage all the calls (both incoming and outgoing), plu it can play mp3 via a standard 3.5 pin cable, connected to AUX.. While you listen to music, it'll mute the music when transmitting road information as well as while receiving phone calls..... the only limiting factor (maybe) is the max SD size is 2 GB.... but the TomTom Go can control the Ipod via another cable, same results... more music...
Very happy with the set-up.
As far as your GPS, cannot help..

If you're asking if you can mix both sources to the aux input the answer is "yes" -- a two-input analog mixer just needs a couple of resistors and whatever connectors you want to use.

If you want to cause a detected signal on one to mute the other then you're more complicated but it can still be done without going digital.

If you're asking how to get a line-out on your GPS... sorry, can't help you

Bear in mind, though, that the echo canceler in your GPS is tuned for its acoustics. If you use car speakers for calls the speakerphone will be basically useless.

THanks for the responses guys. The unit only has an input for USB cable, not an aux pin. So maybe I can find a hybrid wire - one side USB, the other side - pin for Aux in? Might this work?

Just noticed that the GPS unit does have an Aux-in for the "FM transmitter." Maybe this will work for the other end of the Aux-out cable.

If your GPS has an FM transmitter, why not just use that?

I really don't think you're going to get audio out of an input jack

Yea, sorry for the newb GPS/audio quesitons. Just worried that the conversations through bluetooth will not be loud enough to hear with road noise, etc. We'll see! Thanks again.
