Equalizer control by mp3 player?

I was just wondering if you could use your mp3 players equalizer to make a difference in your sound? I have a Samsung P2 MP3 player that can bluetooth audio stream and I really like their DSME equalizer. I just wanted to know if it was possible before buying a new head unit.

I don't think it will work since it only ports the unpreprocessed lineout to HU. I have a iPod, its volum and EQ control doesn't make any sense to the end sound system, unless you pick the headphone output, but it has the lower class of SQ.

depends on the mp3 player and how you're using it. If you're going USB mass storage, for example, then obviously not. If you're just going headset jack to aux-in then sure.

I was planning on just bluetooth streaming. This is for my sister's older 328i so we're going to get an aftermarket head unit for the whole bluetooth law. The head unit also alows bluetooth music streaming and I was wondering if I could use my Samsung P2's equalizer curves since the head unit just has basic bass, treble, and fade control.

It will not go for 99.99....9%. Bluetooth streaming acts on audio packets that are digitally sampled, encoded (either mp3, wma, lpc...) and packetized. Your MP3 player, which is bluetooth capable, just reads your audio files in form e.g. mp3 from hard dist or flash memory, and then packetizes them into small pieces and delivers them to your buetooth capable HU. There, the packets are reassambled into mp3, and denn decoded ....
The EQ is only on the way of your local playback, and is not on the way to bluetooth.

That *really* depends on the mp3 player. The Bluetooth A2DP spec only supports SBC, Mp3, AAC, and ATRAC. SBC is mandatory and the remainder optional. Many A2DP sinks support mp3, only Sony has ever supported ATRAC, and I've yet to see AAC in the wild. If you're playing (eg) WMA files there's no choice but to decode on the player and re-encode with an A2DP codec.

Most A2DP sources decode their music to PCM, may or may not apply their effects, then re-encode into either SBC or mp3 and stream out the Bluetooth radio. There's no reason OP's Samsung can't apply its EQ (or other effects) to A2DP audio but I have no idea if it does.
