4 doors, xDrive and 6MT

I am trying to decide whether to buy a 2018 F30 440ix or wait for a next generation 3-series next year. I realize that nothing is final until the pricing guide is released but almost all speculation indicates that no G20 models will have a manual option in the U.S., including the M340. If necessary, I would consider a G80 M3, but most everything I've read says that an M3 xdrive will be sold here, but if a manual is sold here, it will only be on RWD models. Does anybody have something to confirm or deny what I've been reading.

most of what I've read seems to indicate you'll at least be able to order a 330i in manual (not sure about xi). but not the m340i in any flavor.

Interesting. What I read is that manual will only be on 318d and 320d and those 2 will not be sold in U.S.

Same here. I think we're sol to see a manual G20 3er in the States. Do you need xDrive for ski trips?

Yes. I have a mountain cabin and I don't ski, but having xdrive is easier than carrying chains. I hate having to make a decision before all the information is in.

There is no confirmation about the G80 M3 6 speed awd so i think you should take advantage of the rebate and go with a F30 340xi.

As far as I recall the latest info, the US M340i will be available with RWD (but no manual).

Thanks. I'll wait a month and hope for more info. My wife thinks I should go over to the dark side and get an automatic to get more options. I'm sure it's a good automatic, but . . .

I am a dealer employee and I share the same take as you, they're pretty good about keeping everything under wraps at the moment but we could only hope for 6MT. Niche market? Yes, but they get bought by enthusiasts that care about the brand more than everybody else. Maybe if I worked in corporate dev..

I think a G20/G80 6MT xDrive is pretty unlikely. Would you consider something like a Golf R or an Audi A4 2.0? You can get both of those with AWD and a stick.

I think that I will just get a 2018 340i which has stick and AWD. I was hoping for a 2019.

I don't think anything needs to be done next month (July). I was told that into September was OK.

Hello everyone
Just joined the forum in order to get some information about 6MT G20
Has this been confirmed? I can't believe BMW is killing off MT in 330 and 340.

I believe not confirmed. Nothing is final until the ordering guide is published, but I special-ordered a 2018 340ix 6MT to be made before the EOP date (October).

IF this is true, I don't know what to get then next.
I've had several BMW's before and they were all stick ans so much fun. Got a q50 for a song last year and even though it's powerful enough I'm falling asleep driving it.
Maybe A4 2.0 6 speed or I might have to go test drive 2-series again but I remember it was a little too small for me.
Shoot now a 3-er is going to be like MB for me, a non-starter. Who cares how much HP it's got with 2 pedals.

Smart man.

G80 M3 will get a 6MT, but no ///MxDrive.

M340i and 330i will not get a 6MT here in the U.S. BMW is being truly stupid. I can't believe I'm even typing "no 6MT" and "BMW 3-Series" in the same sentence. While we're on the subject, I am willing to bet that the G20 3-Series won't have great steering feel either. BMW needs new leadership. People still want to drive good driving cars despite all this damn Tesla Autopilot-mania now these days. I hear Toyota of all companies is now becoming the benchmark. Sigh.

Because of the rumors about the G20, I also recently got a 2018 340xi 6MT with MPPSK, adaptive suspension, M Sport brakes and VSS (black sapphire/coral red).

I was surprised to see that my local dealer had two 340xi 6MT on the lot! (both with MPPSK)

Nothing is final until ordering guide comes out, but the rumors are that no manual transmission on any G20 sold in U.S.

Quite confident NO 6MT in new 3 series G20

2019 Audi ordering guide has been published. Audi no longer offers a 6MT in the A4...8 speed ZF only. Friend of mine has a 2018 A4 6MT....very very nice 6MT stick drive.....now these are gone !

I test drove a new Accord Sport 6MT...it was the 1.5...not the 2.0 that has the same/similar specs to the BMW four banger.

You couldn't go wrong for $29K loaded out the door if you want a nice size 4 door that shifts nicely and is fast..................................

But........it aint no 3 series RWD 6MT

Unreal, so A4 is out then. If only Accord 2.0T was a RWD car..
So what's left with RWD and 6MT? 230/240 without going to M
