G05 Tire Sizes

Looks like rolling diameter is increased by up to 1 inch with the G05. Guess we won't be recycling wheels and tires. Bummer because I really like my winter setup...

- 265/50R19 vs. F15 at 255/50R19 (+0.4" Dia)
- 275/45R20 vs. F15 at 275/40R20 (+1.0" Dia)
- 315/35R21 vs. F15 at 325/30R21 (+1.0" Dia)
- 315/30R22 vs. F15 at 325/30R21 (+0.7" Dia)

Anyone heard any specs on hub diameter for the G05?

Don't forget the G chassis has 5x112 bolt pattern compared to 5x120

So Audi wheels may fit depending on the offset.
Yes. Maybe even Macan wheels but what about the center caps

Curious about those who get the 20”+ wheels on the X5. Is it just for looks? Where I am the roads are so bad that I usually go through a couple per year due to potholes. Was thinking of downsizing to 19” for some more sidewall and durability.

Ability to run performance tires in the summer, and looks play a factor for me also. Potholes not too bad where I am. If they were it would be a factor.

Say it isn't so . . . does BMW do this on purpose to us so that we can't use our winter and or summer aftermarket sets from one generation to the next?

My set of 22" 599M replicas would have looked really good on a new G05. Darn it.

Changing bolt pattern really sucks. F15ers would certainly be interested buying those.

True. I am planning to upgrade my 21" to 22" next year and looks like my plan is screwed now, unless bolt pattern adapter is such a thing...

Does anyone else find it odd that the wheel specs in the ordering guide suggest the G05 wheels are narrower compared to F15?

For example:

F15 469M 20" wheels are 20x10 front (275 tire) and 20x11 rear (315 tire)
G05 741M 21" wheels are 21x9.5 front (275 tire) and 21x10 rear (315 tire)
G05 742M 22" wheels are 22x9.5 front (275 tire) and 22x10.5 rear (315 tire)

It is definitely an odd choice considering the fact that the G05 is longer, wider AND taller than the outgoing F15. Given the increase in size and stature of the G05, you would've thought that they would go with something more aggressive (IE: 21x11F and 21x12R) OR at least maintain the same widths. I've also noticed this on the new 8 series as well - the wheel fitment is quite tame for the standard car. Car looks really disproportionate/top heavy with the sunken in wheels. Lets hope that this isn't becoming a trend as I've always found OEM BMW wheel fitments quite attractive in terms of looks/proportions which really complement the overall design language of their cars.

Really!!!??????
Why?
I have Pirelli winter tires on a set of 469's. Works great and I planned on using them on my 2020 M50i.
Again, why can't they just be the same?

Damn! I guess I'll put up the F15's Winters for sale. By the time the G05 comes we'll be in Winter and snow. That's another added expense. This G05 is starting to add up.

So I'm thinking of using the F15's Pirelli ice and Snow RFT's 315/35/20 and 275/40/20. Are there any current BMW rims that have the right bolt pattern and offset?

Mercedes is 5 x 112 with same bore as new BMWs at 66.6mm

Once we know the offsets for the X5, look for a Mercedes off a GL/GLS ML/GLE or maybe a heavy S-Class.

The GL/GLS is high negative offsets like -56 to -60

ML/GLE is around mid 50s for negative offset

S Class is lower.

New Audi Q7 is also now 5x112 and same bore with offsets around -30 ish.

Yeah thats what I was thinking! Hartmann wheels make the 5x112 bolts patter wheels that are great for winter time. I use them on my Audi sedans for winter time.

Mine is getting delivered in November with 22" Summer Tires. Getting the 21" 741M Style Wheels to put on Winter Tires, but can't find them in the 315/35 R21 size for the rear. Anyone know where to possibly purchase them to match the front 275/40 R21?

Use caution for wheels that are Mercedes fit as the OEM lugs are ball seat and shank diameter on some is 12mm instead of 14mm. BMW is M14, 60° cone seat.

Or have a reputable shop CNC a new bolt pattern.
These guys in Georgia can do it, and apparently they can resize the hubs to the G05 as well. I don't know how the hell they would do that.

I have the old school BBS Style 101 wheels with the lip. I love these wheels with a passion. I had them bored out to fit my E70. I would love the bolt pattern changed to fit the G05. (If I ever buy one!!!!) These wheels use the large center caps that cover the lugs, so any imperfections in the machining (If any) would be covered.
