Whats the preferred iPod method? I've read a few
threads here that state the factory/$400 option isn't fully functional with all the menus/artists/playlists/albums/etc... does USB devices though. And then there is the one that is an iPod integration kit(either dealer or factory it looks like) that is $320 on the BMWNA website. I then found a 3rd party interface that advertizes it is better than the two factory options and costs $495 iirc.
So can anyone sum up these three options for me? Unsure what to select/order. I will be adding a DVD/video interface at some point after delivery. Most if not all of my music is on a 16GB touch today, some movies as well. TIA. |

I just use a standard 8gb memory stick, plugged in with the provided usb adapter. It works very well, transfers everything onto the HUD exactly how it appears in the files on the computer.

For a cheap-but-good-sounding solution, look into that Monster Cable low-profile iPod power adapter--it powers the iPod via it's USB-ish connector and brings out the "preamp" signal from the iPod. By this I mean it bypasses the iPod's infamously-crappy amplifier. You connect this much-cleaner output into the "aux in" port in your center console.
Plus, the power plug is low-profile, so you can close your center armrest with the thing plugged in.

I'd like to have the interface integrated through the iDrive though. Forgot about the Aux in port. Saw that on one I drove a while back.

6FL = Factory Ipod option. It utulizes an extra USB port installed in your armrest. It will show Playlist/Albums/Artists/Songs/Genre/etc just like a regular IPOD
MOST = Dealer installed option. It is installed in your glove comparment and replaces your 6disk CD option if you got it. Basically your car see's your ipod as CD. so CD 1 may be playlist, CD 2 may be artist, and so on. |

What option did you have to get in order to get the USB port in the armrest? Is that part of the SatNav?? My e92 has only Sports package and comfort access... sooo, is that why I have no USB but only a aux?
Is there any way I can just get the USB installed??
