ok so, new member here...have had my AMAZING car for about 3 months now (20th birthday present http://www.e90post.com/forums/images...es/thumbup.gif ) 1200 mile service is done and everything is amazing but.....

I let my boyfriend drive my car last weekend (stupid move, I know), and ever since....my speakers have been making this static noise that actually sounds a lot like a coffee maker? its that scratchy sort of sound. it happens with the radio off or on, makes no difference, and goes on after the car is completely off. SO, when my boyfriend drove it he messed with the settings on the treble/bass, played some f**ing LOUD music.....and I've just gotta know...

is it actually POSSIBLE for him to have blown out my speakers in ONE night????

has anyone else had this issue?

This should be covered under warranty. Unless perhaps he installed some type of tracking device

M3 for your 20th bday? Nice!

Its possible that he's blown out the speakers, but I don't think you should hear any crackling when your radio is turned off if that was the case...

Yes, it is possible that settings are all the way up on the bass. I dont think that the speakers are blown, BMW speakers can take the beating. You shouldn't lend ur boyfriend your car, unless he has en even matching car and knows how to treat it right.

I don't think they are blown. I've had a similiar problem but I realized it was the settings on my iPod.

he could have been showing off "his" M3 to his ricer friends and showed them the "system". im not being stereotypical or anything, its just happened to me before. at least he wasn't redlining at 600 miles as well as blow the speakers

Check to make sure some paper or something from the floor isn't resting on the subs under the seat. I thought my right sub was blown, till I found out an envelope somehow slide onto the floor and under the seat. When any bass hit, I got a nice 'buzzzzz' - sounded exactly like a blown speaker

Hmm, that sounds weird. There no way the speakers could have blown from one night of loud music. Plus, the scratchy static noise that you say happens even when the system is off sounds like its a warranty issue you should take up with your dealer.

Its best if you post some pics to better diagnose the problem. Make sure you're in the shot as well, that ALWAYS helps.
