Passenger side mirror dimming?

Do we know if the passenger side mirror dims in the G20 at night? It's frustrating that they got rid of the dimming mirror for the LCI for the F30/F32/F33. That's one thing that I appreciate on my current car. All three mirrors dim at night.

Doesn't look like it--seems BMW has completely done away with dimming passenger side mirror on its cars since 2017--it's not available even on the new 8.
Not clear why this is the case, but doubt it's a matter of cost-cutting.

Would be cool to have both sides. What annoys me more in my F30 is the bloody non-dimming border around the driver side mirror! The whole mirror dimmed on E90! WTF BMW?!

All three mirrors use to dim. Looks like BMW is pulling a Mercedes.

NONE of the current models does. Neither does any Mercedes and many other brands. Dunno why...

The E and S do from what I last saw. The C class didn't.

This will be a legislative thing in one of the major markets... I noticed it was occurring across other brands because I tend to spend a fair bit of time in rental cars... What I never got a handle on was what driver there was for this... A lot of folk just accused the companies of cost cutting but it clearly is not the case....

Maybe it reduces visibility too much on the passenger side. If it was just on the lower trim cars like the X3 or 3 series, I'd agree it was cost-cutting. But if even the 8 series and X5 are getting rid of it, I'm inclined to think it's a regulatory issue.

Hmm maybe I'm going crazy but I'm pretty sure my 2016 F30 LCI dims all 3 mirrors. I need to check again

BMW removed the feature in 2017

In the EU we can still spec it as an option, always paired with folding function. I have it specced for my F31 due in November.
Indeed a possible US legislation change?

Audi is still dimming the passenger side mirror, as is Porsche...

Well, then the mystery deepens... But it is not simple cost cutting as it was a paid option so you'd just set the price higher...

No dimming on passenger side for a few years now... mine is over 2 years old and it was after the change...

Hmm, it's not a paid option here in the U.S. It's just not available. You either get the dimming interior and driver or don't get any.

Mine do (2018 F22). Perhaps cost-cutting only where BMW has the greatest price pressure? It’s a neat trick; never owned a car with it before. Very effective. US owners could probably fit RoW parts quite easily...

It's a Life-Changing Revelation™ for many on this forum, but I had to check the last time I drove my 2018 F22 (EU spec) in the dark. Both mirrors do indeed dim, not by a lot, but they do. Possibly a regulatory factor?
