Just checked out the new X5

My dealer has had my X5 sitting in storage for the last 4 weeks. He didn't want to show it to me until it was PDI'd plus I've been busy. Couple things to note, I originally ordered a 4.0 with every possible option. Then I decided there's no point as I want a diesel and let's wait and see so I'm picking up a Canadian HEA "launch package" version first. I always lease and he usually gets me out of the lease and into a new one within a year.

Anyway, the X5 5.0 below does not have the luggage compartment package with the electric hiding cargo cover and inflated rubber pads. What I did notice is now there is a slot under the luggage floor where the cargo cover can be stored. On my previous E70 and F15 this was always a pain in the butt. I would have to put on the passenger floor and people would just rest their feet on it.

This SUV is awesome. My biggest visual gripe is the front end where the "fog light" and air inlet comes together with the bumper cutout. It looks poorly integrated and an after thought. I assume LCI will fix this.

Also compared to standard exhaust the M exhaust has no extra noise in sport or comfort. I don't even know how they call it M exhaust. I also have an X3m40i and the one on the G05 makes no noise in comparison

What is that gauge/device in the left of the pic (7th) showing where the cargo cover would go?

That is an air compressor for you to pump your tires. It also comes with a can of flat tire sealant.

When I ordered mine, it was the last one with all the options I wanted and color. It's still on the train heading to Langley. Good thing I got it before someone else did or I would have to wait a whole month more for the next shipment.
Cb with premium enhanced and M-sport package with 22" 742M with glass shifter and sky lounge panorama lights.
Originally to BC just in time to be redirected to Toronto!

Hopefully by Dec 01. It'll be here!

Take some pics of the sky lounge. I still don't understand why US is the only market not getting that option. It's made in the same plant correct?

Thanks for the pics. Been curious about the cargo area. I'm assuming those cargo area pics are of the vehicle with 22's?

Yes, all X5s are produced at BMW Plant 10 in Greer, SC (Spartanburg County).

I think it would have been really cool to have, but I'm not upset that it didn't come standard...

Plus, I will probably re-tint the moonroof to increase the heat rejection from the sun. (i wonder if it will have any effect at all on exterior noise...)
